There's actually a major suit between the states and the administration re: clean air.

Republicans tried to get ANWR last year; they're talking about it this next year as being possible (as if).

There's a big todo about Cheney's energy shenanigans right now, including a federal suit (recently dismissed).

Energy companies have been handed numerous treasures in UT, Colorado, Montana, etc.

Much has been made about Bush's "cut-em-all-down" policy re: federal forests.

Much has been made about Bush protecting Florida's coastline but handing California to the oil companies.

But no, I haven't heard anything about Bush and the energy industries.

Really? So how is Bush doing on environmental issues, such as diesel emmission standards? Did he cater to the industry?

All I mean by "don't post" is that if you are wrong or don't know the answer, then maybe you shouldn't. If I didn't whether Yao Ming was improving, I wouldn't go and post about how I thought Yao was better than Shaq or something.

Are you kidding me? By doing nothing, Bush allowed some energy companies like enron to fix prices and make a killing. Where do you think the $800 people were paying in Cali for basic electricity was going. To energy companies that donated money to his campaign.

Every politician that high up is effected by lobbyist and big money. To say otherwise is just plain naive. However, the problem became crisis level during the Bush administration and Bush didn't do anything about it.

Bush didn't do anything about it until it was brought to national attention. All these scandal's have been around for a while, even when the mighty, riteous democrats are in office. Don't blame economic problems and corporate scandals all on the Bush administration

    "Tobacco scandal?" What a joke!

Dude may of made up the whole "unnammed" person in regards to the ciggy lighter....but if anyone for one second doesnt think that not banning lighters isnt a direct reflection of the will of Big Tabacco is smoking something stronger than tobacco.

Im a die hard smoker. I light up right after I get outside of an airport...I would have no problem giving up my Bic instead of my knitting needles.

    Good lord

Bush didn't screw up Cali.....it was a combination of horrible govt in Cali (Gov Davis) and some shady price manipulation from Enron, Avista, and El Paso.

Sorry, I should rephrase my b****. Bush has done nothing to stem the FERC's Mccarthylike dissection of the energy trading industry since Enron and El Paso got nailed for fixing prices. He has decided to distance himself as far as possible from the companies that gave him serious jack. I bet Duke, AEP, Aquila, and other merchant energy traders (who despite being found innocent of price fixing are floundering in a confidence and credit crunch) aren't seeing their campaign $$$s work in the way they would like.

So all of big business isnt getting what they want....trust me.
