That's exactly the type of things I talked about in my post earlier. China is such a communist country! Most people do not even know what it means to be a communist country. Suppression of free speech and arresting dissidents does not make you a communist country!
I was talking to my almost 90 year old Grandfather the other day. He is a pretty sharp dude. He said there is no way he'd want to go back to the way things used to be. He said things used to be kind of crappy and that life today is so much better. He can't understand why the "news" tries to make it sound like its not.
1) take it down a notch... 2) youre only looking at the issues from your perspective. how about looking at it from other perspectives before blowing up and sounding like a raving lunatic. 3) if the human race is such a cancer, practice what you preach and lead the charge off a steep cliff 4) want to know y whitey is in charge, read "Guns, Germs, and Steel" 5) whitey is not all that bad. every race has a spotty history. 6) im sorry your pee pee hurts... life sucks, deal with it.
Ok, I'll give you that one. But it is Free-er than state controlled media. Uh. Yes, Chinese is a Communist country. Come on. I can even resort to Wiki on this one for speed: the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), is the ruling political party of the People's Republic of China, a position guaranteed by the country's constitution. The Communist Party of China was founded in 1921, and fought the National Government of China (Republic of China) led by the Kuomintang (KMT) during the Chinese Civil War, which ended with the Communist Party of China's victory in the Chinese Revolution. With more than 70 million members,[1] the CPC is the largest political party in the world, with this number being but 5% of the total population of China. I have relatives that have traveled in China and been threatened with death for preaching the Gospel. I also have relatives that lived for decades in Taiwan. Do you think the people of Taiwan still believe China is Communist?
On the flip side this is what America looks like on the PRC satellite. Whoops looks like the image link is down. Here's another
For someone who have never been to China you don't know what you are talking about. There are many places I could think of that would be terrible to live, China is not one of them. You should go visit before you make yourself look bad.
My main problem with the Chinese government is their suppression, jailing and torture of Falun Gong followers. Falun Gong is just a meditation, peace loving organization. They are not looking to take over China or the world. They just want to better themselves and the world. What is scary is if you attend outdoor Falun Gong meditation groups in the USA, you can see Chinese intelligence agents watching from a distance with binoculars. Talk about the government in Beijing being paranoid.
Replace the word "communist" with "totalitarian" and you have an accurate description of the Chinese government and how it relates to its citizens.
I'm guessing that you mean your grandfather has lived in China his entire life. If so, of course he doesn't want to go back to he way things used to be. Who in their right mind would want to relive WWII, Chinese Civil War, and the Cultural Revolution? "Kind of crappy" doesn't even begin to describe those days. That doesn't mean that the political system in place today is the best for Chinese people.
Yes, but then what would be so different about China? It would just be another totalitarian government, many of which are supported by the US government. "Communist" makes it sound so "evil", it is the cold war mentality at its best. If Chinese communist government proclaims China is a democracy tomorrow and it is now the Chinese democratic party does that make China a democratic nation? The way some people who throw out words like communist country without critical thinking is so laughable.
^ I bet if the PRC declared open multi-party elections tomorrow you would see a bump in opinion of the PRC in the US for a few months but within a year you would see the same animosity return. While there is a lot of criticism of the PRC in the US over their political system I believe the conflict is much more than that. The US maintains close and friendly ties with countries that are as totalitarian, in some cases more so, than the PRC.
