No, it doesn't mean he got a triple double every game. The average of a series of numbers is not the same as the *minimum* of a series of numbers. For example, take the set of numbers {100,100,100,100,0}. The average is (100+100+100+100+0)/5 = 80. So the average was 80. Does that mean that every number was at least 80? No; one of them was clearly a zero. You'll have to look at each game to really know the whether he got a triple double, or even a double double every game.
where did he say Reggie Miller is a racist? why does it seem like you can't stop talking about racism?
A lot of people aren't 100% in the NBA after about a handful of games anyways. Yao turned his ankle in the Bucks game (it may have been NOK), and was hacked hard repeatly during Heats game. It's part of the game. It's just that some players will keep the injuries to themselves, and some will try to make it public as an excuse for their performance. How exactly do you hyperextend a knee when your knee is bent at a 90% angle anyways.
I am just pointing out that they use all kinds of excuses to diminish Yao's credits. I mean, can he write a check? I don't know if you watched this NBA commercial where many shots and dunks of the season were featured. Yao was there too, but his shot got blocked by Duncan. I bet Duncan had better highlights than that. Why not Yao's shot was blocked? Cuz all rights reserved by the NBA. Other ppl may not notice that, but as a Rocketfans, I know. ESPN even exaggerated the fact that Yao's shot was blocked by Nate. Was Yao reaching the highest point? Was Yao trying to dunk the ball? But I foresee the play will reach top 10. Whereas, if you watch Leborn on national TV, almost every made shot is being replayed. Not just Yao. Different players get different treatments by the media. Sometimes we fans just disgusted by the media. Let's put aside the racism, isn't that basketball without border?
Because let's face it, it's not everyday that you see a guy 5'8" come up and block a 7'6" guy. It doesn't matter what the situation is - but that's going to be a highlight for a very long time. It's just amazing. You're talking about nearly a 2 foot different in height. 2 FEET! It's like if you, who let's say is 6 feet tall, got your shot blocked by someone who was 4 feet tall!!!! It's not about how bad Yao is necessarily - it's about how amazing Nate must be to do that. It's so impressive. There are guys six ten who can't block Yao's shot. And now someone who's one of the shortest people in the NBA blocks the tallest guy in the NBA???? That's just an impressive feat. People want to see that - it's good television and they are showing it because it's good for ratings. Let me tell you something, those guys at ESPN, they are pretty decent people. All sports nuts, and they are pretty open minded. They are mixed race two - you have asians, blacks, whites, latinos all working there. They don't hate Yao - they just love the break in their routine when something happens out of the extraordinary and they are going to put it up.
I don't mean to bring up race, it's just that I'm getting attacked as a racist for my critical comments about Yao and it does annoy me because nothing could be further from the truth.
I'd like to get the names of the Asian and Hispanic sports anchor that works on ESPN. "seeing is believing"
they are not sports casters - the work in the corporate office at all levels. also in production, but not as sportscasters - espn is huge - has 1000's of employees....
One, Nat fouled yao. second, nat can't do that consistently...heck...he can't even do that twice consecutively--so it is inconsequential. Otherwise, they would have Nat guarding yao 1-1...not help-fouling yao.
Nat fouled Yao after the ball was out of yao's hands - on the follow through of the block. The block was clean, and it's a good no call in my book. I know you love Yao - and trust me, I actually am a Yao fan...but seriously, that was a monster block on Yao....and it's just amazing that anyone can block a shot of someone 2 feet taller. That's a basketball highlight for the ages. Just accept it and appreciate it as one of the great things about this game - that these players are so athletic, and how amazing the sport is. No need to get upset because our guy had his shot blocked once by a short guy.
nate blocked yao's shot then hit his face inadvertently as he was comming down. it was a very nice block and kenny smith is right. yao deserves that for not taking it in strong. i cant tell you how pissed off i get when i see yao point blank at the basket and he lays it up. what the **** is up with that. DUNK IT YAO!!
First of all, just b/c Yao was turning to the basket does not mean he was taking a shot...so it really can not be a block. He fould Yao as he elevated to swat the ball out of Yao's hands. It WAS a foul. It was NOT a block, let alone a monster block for the ages... . I am not upset, thanks for your concern. I am not taking away from nats leaping ability...but he can't do that consistently, so that is inconsequential. Otherwise, Nat would be playing the 4 or the 5 and not in there leaping to foul. And btw, Yao is not 7'8" or 7'9" You know, if it is true talent....nobody would be freaking out....it would be expected. Nobody expects a midget to elevate that high to foul a big man by his chest...it usually happens when they are posting up and dribbling...the nats come around and swat at the dribbling hand..
going back to the topic... kenny doesn't hate Yao. He's one of Yao's earliest supporters. And he still supports Yao. Check out his fantasy team. http://ufc.nba.com/basketball/nbacares/view_lineup.asp?Team=113696
he was one of yao's supporters. when yao got here, he immediately said that yao is rox' best player, better than francis. and now he needs to recognize the truth that yao is infinitely better than shaq
Don't make this a black thing when you have "white" talking heads at ESPN constantly laughing about Yao getting punked after a dunk or his block shot by Nate. There are white former NBA players who don't like Yao's game or respect him as the best because he hasn't proving it yet...simple as that. Steve Kerr is not a YOF but of course he's not racist against Yao and neither is Tim Leggler who is not exactly on the Yao bandwagon either. KS and Chuck are paid for their opinions and you don't have to like it but quit using the race card...it's so old. I like Yao...cheer for him each night he plays but HE has to earn respect from former players and current players by having one great season...just one please before you annoint him as the best thing to ever lace up the high tops! Yes, he's on a great run of 26 & 10 but will it continue? Will he get another case of athletes foot and miss 30 games? Will he fall down one day and never get up? Will he get poked in the eye by the next midget and never recover? Or will he lead his team to the big payday and hoist the Trophy over his huge frame in June??? I guess we have to stay tuned and wait and see don't we?
This year, on the radio 610 K. Smith said that O' Neal is better than Dream, then everbody on the radio was stunned for seconds. On other hand, Robert Horry said Dream is the best among the big men he has been with the teams. That will tell you someting about the Smith.
