The worst knock on Kenny is that he was just repeating stuff that Barkley had said on the TNT broadcast a few nights earlier. That thing about Shaq making players better was from Barkley last week.

Also, Kenny didn't know the Rockets lead the league in scoring defense (just assumed it was the Spurs I guess).

But he did say, "This is the best Yao has played." Which was not true. But it meant "This is the best I have seen of Yao."

Those guys don't do their homework nearly as much as some of the lower-visibility commentators. They just show up and do the gig, catch the games they catch, barely look at stats, rely on their prior experience. These are really color commentators, not analysts.

Glad I wasn't the only one who notice that.

Kenny made some ok points but some of the crap he came up with esp after that BS robinson block/foul made me scream "F U Kenny!" at the TV

Yeah, I heard the 610 interview and he was very complimentary to Yao, comparing him to Hakeem. He also said he always roots for the Rockets. :p

Man, Greg Anthony is a supreme jackass. I bet if and when the Rox have say a 50-15 record he'll still say "well they got to qualify for the playoffs first..." and then have the announcer let him know that the Rox have already at least clinched a playoff spot. That would be priceless. :D Talk about serving a big ASS bone in the mouth. :p

I guess memories of the 94 finals still sting ... :D

It would serve that blowhard right! Anthony is the worst analyst/color commentator perhaps ever in history. :p

Walton is a basketball purist and plays the analysis pretty even and oh yes, he's intelligent. Anthony just spouts out whatever he thinks of substantiated or unsubstantiated. Mostly the latter ...

Ummm, the majority of the people who ripped Yao coming into the league were white reporters. Just saying. . .

Yeah I think these 'announcers' are secretly scared Shaq will kick their arss if they don't talk nicely about him.

    Hmmz good points huh:

    1) They are talking about best center NOW. Bill Russell has 11 rings does that make him the best center NOW???? Also Shaq makes NO ONE around him better. Wade, Kobe, and Penny were ALL already superstars in their own right. Penny got worse afterwards because he was injured, even great players can't do anything with injuries. Wade and Kobe are better without Shaq now. (As Shaq is injured Wade is RAPING).

    2) Everyone SHOULD should 80% but how many centers do? Well lets take it a step further how many players in general do? In HS, College, or NBA, not many if i say 10% I think I'm giving BIG benefit of doubt.

    3) Fantastic he is a straight shooter, how come on TNT he was like Yao needs to get 25/10 every night. Even though at the time Yao was averaging 26/10. I think he does not know what he is talking about. (And if by every night he means EVERY NIGHT, well show me one player that got a double double every night in any season).

    4) Mac has been conservative because of his back, but I will take a layup from him (which last few games he has been making alot of) as much as a dunk. Both are worth 2 points and can get easily.

Well, see, this is because you look at better/worse in terms of individual performance. Kobe is better without Shaq? Not making the playoffs one year, barely making it the next doesn't mean he got better. He is the same, at best.

This free throw thing is not that big of a deal. Instead of just repeating what his partner already said by praising Yao, he just made a general comment that more ppl should make free throws consistently. That's his job, and that's a good point.

    Point 3 is stupid.

I don't know why I'm even addressing point 4, McGrady is clearly taking too many outside shots.

    And a bunch of errors.

btw, I think it took Shaq 7 years to win a title and he had the luxury of growing up playing competitive ball at all levels.

Amen ... so obvious to most people. This sh*t has been going for too long. To those of you saying otherwise, name a black reporter who has said something nice about Yao. If the media votes for all stars, Yao'd never make it ... fortunately we do. BTW, what's happened to diversity in sports media?
