Great post Desert, however I doubt that the 20% are the ones with blind Steve love.15% of those 20% are people who didn't watch the Rockets those years. As my trip to China confirms. People like Steve there for his support of Yao, not because he was some playoff hero. Another point during the Steve years was how he was being mentored by Charles (i know the response we'll get for this) and Dream. However Charles who could relate more to Steve than Dream since Charles was more outgoing of a person, was frustrated in his attitude and work ethic. Its like he was Iverson, except Iverson finally figured it out. Charles mentions that the reason he got better as a player was because of Moses Malone and Dr J's help. When Steve got traded away from the Rockets, he didn't perform well in Orlando. His excuse was that they traded away Cuttino?? good grief. Dream didn't cry when Otis left and Otis had a more important role (being dream's PF and backup). The final piece of evidence for me was when Steve went to NY and could not really beat out Marbury or Nate Robinson. Franchise he's not anymore. I don't think Steve is a bad person, I just hope he finally matures into a better player.
i think steve still has it he scored like 24,26,28, and 22 in his last 4 games as a Knick with those ppg so no doubt if he gets the playing time he will be efficient. he scored 20 points in the all-star game (last jordan appearance) when he was part of a all-star team and he didn't seem to keep the ball to himself with mcgrady on the court with him I know tracy will keep him in check.
The reason we are so angry with Steve is that the guy should be busting his butt to be in our rotation and he's apparently not. I mean, if he was really going all-out, do you think he would let Rafer and Head supplant him in the rotation? Of course not. We want the All-Star, we know how much he can help us win the championship. And anything that prevents us from doing so is going to rile us up. Believe me, if it was Hayes or James or Scola pulling this, we'd be just as furious. But it's Steve who is out of the rotation, and you have to believe that either Adelman holds grudges and is playing people ahead of Steve because he has something against him, or that Steve just isn't good enough- or, more likely, isn't trying hard enough. With Steve's track record, I'm more inclined to believe the latter.
I am inclined to believe Adelman. Francis has had the most trouble adjusting to the new offense. He'll get it evetually.
