what do Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen have in common?

They have never made it to the Conference Finals without Sam Cassell as their point guard.

Why would we care what the media think is the real answer if your looking for a boast of confidence just watch some Rockets clips on youtube. Journalists are paid to right, commentators like Barkley though arrogant gets paid to ramble his mouth, even if most of what he says resembles crap. Its nice seeing things nice about us but the fact is we haven't won past the first round in over a decade. Journalists aren't experts or basketball Gods, one injury to a star player can ruin any team. Most journalists have to cover several sports teams not just basketball so don't have time to focus on dramatic improvements, in fact probably most sports writers/commentators probably don't know who Luis Scola is, and pretty much focus on what a certain players last years history and how they played like Steve Francis and Mike James dissapointing seasons. Of course most Rockets fans should know more and expect greater things than sports journalists or commentators. The Rockets the past two or three years have always looked great on paper but have always managed to underachieve whether through injury or just choke jobs, but that is what experts remember and talk about.

    Also,

    1) The league MVP of that year was the runner up MVP of previous year.

Barkley of Suns won the MVP previous year but there was a lot of argument that it should have been Hakeem.

    2) The Rockets, year before, took Seattle to Overtime in Game 7, on Supersonic's homecourt. If they had lost to Seattle in game 7 on their own home court, they would have looked like chumps.

Just like the Utah Jazz and Karl Malone looked like chumps after we beat the Jazz on their own homecourt in deciding game 5 of the 1995 first round series. Those Jazz fans sure liked dumb@sses holding "Our year" sings year after year.

This is what we are beginning to sound like.

Who cares what anyone in the media says. We never got respect even when we won two in a row, we were a speed bump in the Bull's dynasty. We got stuff like the only reason we won is because Michael Jordan wasn't there. Who cares what the media says, prove them wrong. Prove you can get past the first round, prove you can get to the Finals. Show us you can beat Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas, or Utah in the playoffs. Prove you can hoist the trophy when nobody believed you could. Nothing else matters.

    Dream Lover,
look at how many posts are up when there are media predictions or even when commentators like Bill Simmons says something about the NBA.
Apparently a BUNCH of people here care. I'm in your boat Dream Lover, I can give a crap, I only care what happens on the court.. Unless they deny me my Rockets Sports Illustrated Cover or DVD. Then I'll be pissed.

first off this poll is very unorganized. i dont even know what its asking.

secondly the media is RIGHT most of the times. last year everyone here was mad because we were getting dismissed. 99% of this board said we would cruise past utah, and guess what, we lost in the first round, and guess what, THEY WERE RIGHT. baskley was right, kenny was right, and magic was right. it's you homers who think we can always win a chip every year that are constantly wrong. unlike most people here i have realistic expectations of this team, and yall should too before whining about getting disrespected.

    The correct answer is:

The media should predict that the rockets will win because have have assembled the pieces which indicate that we are a successor to the current champions. These pieces include a strong defense, a strong offense, super-star starting talent, outstanding supporting talent, team hunger, humility, and fan support.

That ticked me off so bad when they did that to us. You know the media has never really given any real respect to the Rockets since the twin towers days and even then we were only the up and comers, not the hallowed Boston Celtics or the Show Time Lakers. To me the 95 championship was the best because we took the media's crap and shoved Larry O'Brien in their faces. I don't care what the media does because they have there own ideas and it doesn't matter whether they like us or not as long as we win.
