I think it just comes down to Rockets Management wanting a collective attitude on the floor. From the coach down to the scrub. That's why Swift was shipped, thats why Gay was dealt. Battier fits into the collective attitude that JVG wants to incorporate. If management even knew of a hint of laziness, or a sign of not wanting to compete aggresively they know it won't work on the floor, and thats why i think they weren't interested in Rudy Gay. They should have still tried to get more out of the deal, perhaps Bobby Jackson as our back-up point guard, or anything. We still got hosed in that regard, but i undertand the reason for the trade, just not the way it was done.
Eddie Griffin's athletic ability is also good enough for 10-5. To bad the only thing he's good for is clubbing the baby seal.
If the Rockets doesn't want Gay, fine! At least they could shop him around the league, and see who they can get. I bet there are 29 other GMs who would salivate at the chance to get Gay. There has to be a better deal out there than Gay AND Swift for Battier.
Actually, at best 22 other teams. 7 teams passed on the "most talented player in the draft" And actually, when you go by need, it was possible that Gay could have fell 2 more spots as the teams behind us wanted post players.
Do you feel better now??? Are you validated??? "he fell to #8 he must not have been that good". Do you work for the Rockets cause the way you're rationalizing a lame trade leads me to believe you're on Van Gundy's coaching staff.
