Does RyBo have any twin brothers we don't know about?

Our most valuable asset this offseason was our #8 pick. What did we get for it? Dumped Swift and picked a quality backup for TMac. WooHoo.

What we needed is a third scoring option, a starting 2, and depth. Strike three and we are out.

Are we saying Gasol is not a start? As far as I know, he had a great season and has been playing great. They also had Miller, Stoudomire, etc.

The Rockets are just going to be like Memphis next year. A couple of stars with a buch of role players with good work habits, hustlers, etc, etc.

That translates to 7th, 8th place on the West and a quick exit on the first round of the playoffs.

I am just amazed that people think Battier will change this team. He is just a good role player. This team needed more than that to go to the next leve.

Heck yes, I will say it...Gasol is not a star, he is a good player but not one that can take over a game, ala Tmac or Yao, and that is what will make Battier better, he can play off of 2 TRUE star players.

A healthy Hakeem who was double teammed needed Sam Cassell to hit a clutch shot against the Knicks.

    History teaches us.

Gay lost to George Mason. Apparently their talent was too much.

If the Rockets need fire [ they really do ] why on earth get a slow player like Battier, who is in the downward slope of his career and is overpaid for what he produces?

we dont know that just yet. Jerry West has definetly improved the Grizz, but they havent won a playoff game yet.

Detroit won a championship without drafting Carmelo.
would they have won it if they played a rookie? I dont think so. for that team, it was about chemistry.

battier can shoot and he can play d. he's not dwade, but he's not suppose to be. we're trying to win now. thats why. if JVG feels that Rudy Gay is not ready and TMac likes Battier, then who's opinion for the Rockets is more important?

    US
    or
    Tmac's?

despite the fact they, us, includes myself, Tmac's approval weighs more.

my curiosity is what would Rudy T do?

Yep I'm sure Alston, Hayes, Juwan, Frahm, Bogans and Bowen are all clutch... That's why they're here right?

We didnt draft anyone of those players.

I didnt make up the scouting report, if they say he wasnt clutch and he lacked heart, then i dont want him on my houston rockets. I dont want the rockets to have the next 'derrick coleman'.

you guys can spend your money on an ad in the chronicle. i suggest you save for buying beverages during the PLAYOFFS.

I said it. we're making the PLAYOFFS next year.

The main reason we stunk last year was the fact they didnt rehire Calvin Murphy.. hexed the entire season.

Which FA out there will we land with the MLE that will the third scoring option AND the tall starting two problem? Take your time there is no rush.

The MLE and our TE can address our depth problem. A starting two or a third scoring option are going to demand more money. A 4 better than JHo will also demand more money.

We are left with making a trade and a whole bunch of players no other team in the NBA wants besides Head or Battier. Battier would be best trade option to bring in a third scoring option, starting 2.

Unless you count the fact that Memphis took Stro back. I'd like to thank them for that, personally.

    Imagine it...
Dawson: "Yeah, we'd like Battier. But if you want Gay, you have to take Stromile, too."
    West: "Damn. Sigh. Okay."

I'd imagine the Rockets' brass is pretty excited to have unloaded him and his bloated contract. Now we can go a little harder in the free agent market.

You act as if that is a bold prediction or a big deal. We were a playoff team last year. The only problem was that our playoff roster was injured for most of the year.

I don't want to make the PLAYOFFS this year. I want to at least be a game or two away from the WCF.

Yeah he was 2-6 shooting free throws in the playoffs this year. HUGE sample size. You neglected to mention his 50% field goal percentage in the playoffs - why?

In game one this year, Battier missed 2 free throws in the first 7 minutes - yep, he must have choked (incidentally, one was after an offensive rebound and tip-in).

In the only close game of the series (OT in game 3), Battier shot 50% in the 4th quarter and OT from the field and did not miss a single free throw.

No we can't. Getting rid of Stro does not change the fact that we still only have the MLE.

We were like that in 04-05 with an older bunch of role players and almost beat the Mavs as the 5th seed

what clutch city and the playoffs this year taught us is that you need some youth to go along with your veterans

the rockets right now have zero athleticism with the exception of luther head, with the way the game is structured today it's difficult to win this way

gay could've been tutored by tmac, his favorite player, if jvg doesn't wanna do his job and develop young players

at the very worst, gay could've been a better version of luther head...nobody knew horry and cassell were clutch when they were drafted, they turned into clutch players, and nobody thought luther head would be able to play the way he did and hit clutch shots for us, but he began to....the gamble with gay definitely wouldve been worth it....then the rockets now would've been similar to the championship years with lots of veterans and two real young players (head and gay) who would have to contribute

but now the rockets have one of the nba's oldest, probably the nba's slowest, and nicest team and for a defensive team their defense is still gonna suck especially with that sunglasses theif still on the roster
