It's 2013, there aren't any centres of Hakeem's caliber. Comparatively Pau is certainly an elite big in the NBA.
http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Frankly, if the Lakers miss the playoffs, I don't think there is any way they don't amnesty Gasol. I would be all over an amnesty bid, and I bet Morey would too.
I wouldnt mind Gasol here in Houston, but his contract next year is just ridiculous...its LA's problem...and very franchise crippling imo... Although it has been a while since he has said this, Pau doesnt wanna be here in Houston...
Gasol at 5 million for his last year would be awesome. I imagine a crapload of teams would put up high bids though.
This is the most overused and worthless gripe in ClutchFans history. At the time of the near trade, the Lakers were coming off two NBA titles in the previous three years. They had made the Finals in three of the last four. Gasol was considered a fringe top-10 player and had experienced almost nothing but epic success and love since coming to Los Angeles. The Rockets, meanwhile, had no marquee players and seemingly no direction. He would pretty much be a complete ****ing idiot to prefer playing for the Rockets over staying with the Lakers, in that scenario. Now, the Lakers are a walking disaster and he's so underappreciated that he's coming off the bench for an 18-25 team. The Rockets have one of the best players in the entire NBA and he's only 23. The circumstances just might be a bit different than they were in December 2011.
As long as he is picked up off waivers for cheap. What's the point in getting another pf when we have 3 that haven't gotten, playing time this season
While I love Pau, he would be very wrong for the Rockets as they are currently constructed. He does not have the shooting range required to play in the current Rocket offensive system. He would also slow the game down for the Rockets. Patterson and MM can make it up and down the floor very quickly, and with Pau they would have two players show up on the offensive end 10 seconds into the shot clock. Pau would have been perfect on last years squad. The offense was perfect and the pace was perfect. However it was not to be.
