Nugzfan: I'm really glad you are on our board. And I like it when you debunk some of the absurd trade ideas that come up. It gives a sense of reality, since you're coming from the perspective of the team someone throws out a trade for. What I think some of us have grown tired of, is when you have made statements of disdain for any of our players except Francis in a trade situation. You've said something along the line of "well I have heard what some of you guys say about Mobely," and he's a worthless player, or something like that, or you wouldn't want Griffin, Taylor, KT, or all the other "lessor" players. I can understand not wanting Moochie, Cato and Williams. And, I must admit, some of the absurd suggestions regarding McDeyss needed to be debunked, and I agree that the only player on our team of his caliber is Francis, so none of those trades were very realistic. If you hadn't shot them down, one of us would have. But LaFrentz is not in that same category, and sometimes you seemed to place him there, and dog the value of some of our players. We've had interest in LaFrentz, not because he is the best center in the West, but because he would fit this team well, and of his being disgruntled in Denver, and asking to be traded. We have good players, and some of them could be of value in a trade, and shouldn't be so quickly dismissed by you, in my opinion. It'll be interesting to see who he gets traded for, if he goes somewhere besides Houston, and to see if that player is better than any of our players except Francis. I do agree that Cato, Williams, Norris, Collier, Langhi, etc. are players that aren't in his category. And I can understand even cutting down KT, since he's just getting his spurs, although I think his numbers have been better than LaFrentz over the last month or two, but for you to think Mobely, Griffin, and Taylor are worthless for trade, gets on some of our nerves, appearing that you aren't even considering a logical and legitimate brainstorming session, which would be of value from someone on the opposing team. Sometimes one team has a duplication of players, or ones who don't fit from attitude or chemistry with the rest of the team. Those become good trading chits for players in the same category with other teams. So, if its because a player we have doesn't fit the need that your team has, that's one thing, and probably the case, therefore that should be your argument. But to down all our players but Francis as not being in the same league of LaFrentz, that's thinking too highly of your players, and not enough about ours. So, Nugzfan, I look forward to your continued posting, but your insights might be viewed as less "tiresome" if you discussed value for value, and not come across just as biased as some of those you legitimately shoot down.
You guys have to think about other factors. If that's what we're offering, and YOU think the Pacers would accept, don't you think the Blazers or Knicks have something better to offer? Right now, we need an inside presence, banger type. I love Jamal Magloire's game. He had a tremendous game last night. We should go after this guy before his trade value shoots up. You guys think Cleveland would do this trade because they're overcrowded up front? : Bimbo Coles to Houston Micheal Doleac to Charlotte Moochie Norris to Cleveland Jamal Magloire to Houston Charlotte may have to throw in someone making around $1M. Throw a draft pick or two wherever you see fit, to balance the deal. I think, Charlotte should get a first rounder(late), and Cleveland should get a 2nd rounder (early). What do you guys think?
Thanks for the props Clutch. Personally, I don't like seeing the same trade proposals all the time, but I know as a Magic fan I'd like to trade Pat Garrity, Andrew DeClercq, and a few #1s for the same players. Going after a young SF is something the Rockets might want to do, depending on where Eddie fits in down the road. But, setting the sights on a realistic level is necessary. Maybe TMo and Torres are the best options out there in terms of youth, ability, and hit on the cap - maybe not. Playing each player in a series to see how well they perform is a smart move, in my opinion, for the future. Why? Because the future is not this season for the Rockets.
Well, I wouldn't post here if I weren't a fan of the Rockets too. But, my loyalties lie first with the Magic. Anyway, the Rockets do have a nice potential for the future. I'm not a huge fan of Mobley's, but the core is definately there with Francis and Griffin. Get the right role players to build around those two, let them mature, and make smart personnel moves. In time, it could be one of the better 1-2 punches in the league. Mobley would be much better suited as a third option, I think. Beyond that, as long as the center hole can be solved and the necessary depth added to the bench - not necessarily talent but in players who fit what the Rockets need around Francis and Griffin - the Rockets could be contenders for 5-7 years. Contender being relative, of course. Could be anywhere from divisional contender to championship contender.
No, because I'm the eternal optimist! But seriously, yes. If he's not healthy, the Magic have holes at SF and PG to fill. If he's healthy, they are contenders for 5 years.
I thought NugzFan's post was funny and I found that reaction by Clutch a little too harsh. NugzFan clearly wasn't serious and he clearly didn't mean the Crew as in the Admins or anything like that...
Clutch I surfed the board on espn for Denver and it is loaded with posts proposing trades. my guess is about 70 to 80 perc. of them are. it is a total mess. one suggested a *George McCloud to Grizz* deal because the Grizzlies could use his *veteran leadership*. another said van exel to the wizards for Kwame brown AND their #1 pick. My favorite was a three way deal where Lafrentz goes to Utah and DIRK NOWITZKI goes to Denver!!! lol!
I agree with NugzFan. By the way funny post. Lol Trust me , the trade ideas ppl come up here are the craziest. Walt, Kenny, Moochie, First round pick for Garnett.
ill admit a few months ago, when i thought you guys were serious, i was too. but overtime i got used to it, and just started having fun with all the trade rumors. OBVIOUSLY i am in no position to talk smack, as my team is well...hehe...yeah we ARE better. woohoo! 1/2 game. eat it! no wait, im kidding. we both suck. and i know it. just trying to have fun in a season going nowhere. and i still wouldnt trade raef for mobley
espn denver nuggets board is NOT the true nugget fans board. its like saying the espn rockets board is your main board. 99% of those guys are not even nugget fans...you know that. btw; i read that board every day and i see alot of garbage like what you said, but i never saw that grizzly one or the dirk one (are they recent?)
Hey, let's remember whose BBS this thing is...it's Clutch's. Maybe Clutch was a little harsh on NugzFan, but really, how many times have we seen Clutch go off on people? I betcha it is maybe less than 5% of the time since he has had this site. Hell, he has never gone off on me and I probably deserved it several times, so I say leave him alone and let's move on. I'll also say that while I enjoy reading NugzFan's posts, he has always seemed to me to be pushing the envelope. Eventually, when you act like that, you will get called on it.
I didn't forget that at all. But it is still allowed to disagree in a polite way once in a while, I assume . Oh, and yes, the Nuggets suck.
you know what? If the rockets ever had Travis best and moochie norris on the same squad, and in the game at the same time, the front court players could simply lay down in the paint and sleep because they would NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER see the ball!!!
Just a friendly reminder - I forget which Nuggets fan it was but before the season started one of you guys completely went off on the fact that someone around here wanted Kevin Willis for an expiring contract (Walt Williams) and some other fodder. Whoever it was just totally went off on our stupid, unfair, unrealistic idea... ...Then two months later you traded away Willis and the big euro for an expiring contract and a first round draft pick. We gave up a second round pick and got Willis. Until this happened, I really used to question my own judgment of trade values, based primarily on your consternations. In retrospect, however, I think that the history of trades involving both the Rockets and Nuggets, though somewhat limited, would tend to indicate that our concepts of trade value are perhaps a little bit more realistic than you tend to believe them to be. Just some food for thought.
Back to the original topic of the thread, when several days ago the french mariner mentioned that some people had come calling about Moochie, it seemed to me that Indiana might have been one of the teams doing the calling. Given that he always seems to have a career game against them, given that Tinsley is locking himself in as the long term guy, and given that Travis Best's contract is up at the end of the year, it seemed logical to me that they might be intrested in picking up Mooch to be the full-time backup, and unloading Best to address other needs. I agree with the general thought, however, that Al Harrington's injury pretty much puts a damper on any type of trade. I also can't help but think that their primary trade bait would be Austin Croshere.
who doesnt enjoy reading a good NugzFan post now and then? I mean the dude is helarious. and he so super cool. honestly, if you guys didnt take my JOKES (when im serious, you would know) so seriously, then there would be no problems. i like sarcasm alot if you havent caught on by now. you guys are just jealous of me. admit it.
Key words -- the ESPN MESSAGE BOARD. That board is a joke. Half the posts there are "Nuggets Fans Suck!" or "Jazz Suck!" (which is hard to disagree with) or "Look at my post count/profile". That board is a joke.
