Head is a mediocre ballhandler. We DO NOT want McGrady bringing up the ball on every posession. Teams will eventually adjust and start pressuring Head and McGrady. I think the most important thing Jeff mentioned was Yao establishing his offense early in the game and Head's valuable scoring coming off the bench. I just don't think Head starting would work. DaDakota, I think you mentioned before that this team needs a Kenny Smith or Sam Casell and I don't think we have either. Ideally we would want a player like Rafer that could shoot like Head.
I would LOVE for Sura to take over as the starter, heck even as a backup he would provide a lift. Any news on his health? DD
did you see his last video guy was limping I don't think he will come back, he has a lot of passion for this game and it probably hurts him a lot...but after such an injury?!
It really frightens me that I've been agreeing with DaDakota a lot, and based on this thread, he seems to agree with me.
Bingo. As posted in other threads, just check out http://www.nba.com/news/Lenovo_Breakdown_061128.html and http://www.82games.com/0607/0607HOU.HTM.
yeah....just what Amel said. The last time I saw him, he was limping. *sigh* I just don't know guys.....I really hope he can make a impact on this team soon. Before the trade deadline...the rockets need to make a move for a backup point or hope Billy develops. Luther is a hell of a player, but it will take him a few offseason to really get comfortable with the ball in his hands....even longer to become a point because he's always played off the ball. Tough
No, because Alston would start shooting more than he already has playing with, and against, predominately backups...
Agreed, I really wish people would stop with this Sura stuff already, like he's going to magically start feeling better in a month or 2 after being out all this time! And then after he's able to run and cut on those knees he's still got to get used to the speed of the game again and develop chemistry with our current roster, you guys are asking for waaaaaay to much... My advice, just pretend he's retired, sorta like a Charlie Ward or something, and then if he decides to get out of his suit and play one day, it'll be a miracle and everyone on this board can start a few dozen threads on it...
"When I give him a target, he always passes the ball right on target," Yao said of Alston. "There is good chemistry there." I believe there's more... just too lazy at the moment.
I would think the only reason I would be against Rafer being our 6th man is b/c we are 10-5 rather than 5-10. Until there is a good reason (losing streak) to change things up, why do so right?
luther is a better shooter and rebounder. that's it. he's not worth tsarting over rafer. rafer is a better entry passer. rafer is better at bringing up the ball under pressure. rafer is better at getting the team in an offensive set early in the shot clock. luther turns the ball over too much. while rafe ronly gets 4.5APG, luther would get only 2.3APG if given rafers minutes while averaging 1 TO MORE per game. niether can keep an opposing guard from driving past them, but rafer still gets 1.5spg. rafer would be a good fit if he just had better shot selection.
Rockets should look into trying to trade alston. He is costing us a lot of games with his shooting. I thought he worked on his shot this summer, but he is shooting 37% for the year! I think that is even worse than last year's shooting. He should not be allowed to take more than 10 shots a game.
i dont know if people notice, but the starting 5 of rafer/tmac/battier/hayes/yao is one of the most productive lineups in the nba.
Don't be fooled by those lenevo stats. All they do is highlight how much of a gap there is b/w our starters and bench players.
- head does not pretect the ball as good as rafer - t-mac plays point guard, but not in all 48 mins he needs energy to score, so rafer is still our point guard for majority of the time in 48 mins. - JVG tries to save head's energy for 4th QT so rafer will still be our pg most of the time
