I agree, although I wish she could end up being the GOP's nominee. Rice would be toast against Obama, for example, who would suddenly look damn good to a lot of Americans who don't know him. Rice in '08!!!!!!! Keep D&D Civil!!
While that may be, wouldn't the black voters (obviously not all would) who break away from the democratic party be enough to overcome that?
No one from the Bush administration is very popular right now. Bush is probably the only likeable person out of the entire head of the Republican party right now. Except Colin Powell, who will never run for President.
You sir need a timeout. The branding of Bush voters as a bunch of gay haters is not only a lie, but has already grown tired. I think we'd all appreciate it if you'd try to keep it civil.
is Bill Frist an option for the republicans? Probably the smartest senator out there.. former heart surgeon etc..
My early picks are both governors. Mitt Romney (Mass.) for the Republicans, Tom Vilsack (Iowa) for the Democrats. You heard it here first.
I just really don't think that the Owls could put together a chamionship team in 4 years...oh wait...wrong Rice. Nevermind...carry on.
To be honest with you, I don't know. I would have to see his platform. I already know a lot about McCain as he was my GOP favorite in 2000 and he was one of my favorite Senators as well. I know I would vote for McCain, but would have to learn more about Rudy.
No, Black voters would not switch to vote for Condi Rice. She's done nothing to earn their loyalty, and has been part of an administration that spent one day giving lip service to MLK and the next day tried to get the admissions policy in Michigan changed making it more difficult for minorities to be accepted to the university. Rice has lied, and doesn't serve the Democratic black voter in the slightest.
1. Hillary in '08? Only if the Dems want to lose again. 2. Condi Rice? One of the biggest liars in the Bush Administration. She would get "aluminum-tubed" if she ran, and then her claws & fangs would bust out when she got pissed off. She would resemble a cross between Weezie Jefferson and the Wicked Witch of the West.
I was in a honkeytonk setting a couple of months ago, catching up on some conversation with an old friend. We were talking about the coming election and how much Bush sucks. A drunk localyokel interrupted to give his two cents and made a startling statement: that Rice would be a great candidate to replace Bush. Now keeping in mind that this fellow would have been right at home driving to his local Klan meeting with a little David Allen Coe on the radio, I almost dropped out of my chair. For him her color or sex was not even in the equation. She's strong in defense and conservative (or seems to be), and he figured it'd be a great way to rip the whole 'progressive' tag right away from the Democrats, in the form of a female Presidential candidate. I have to admit I was stunned, but apparently don't be so quick to dismiss a woman or a black as a GOP candidate.
I don't know. I used to really like McCain, I guess I still do, but I don't respect him as much. Here's a guy that was lied about and abused by his own party in 2000. Karl Rove worked him over and his party let it happen. He was outspoken about this admisitration for a while, that is until election season started. Then he just bent over for Bush and took one for the team. I just don't see his party backing someone with such moderate views. I don't see the other side supporting someone who wouldn't even stand up for his own beliefs and values. If he could be so easily manipulated now, who's to say that he wouldn't be manipulated in the future. As or Rudy, I'm still not sure if I could trust him as President. Granted, he did a great job cleaning up NYC and getting them out of the massive financial hole that they were in. Not to mention I still feel he was more of a leader on 9/11 and the days after than Bush was. While Bush was flying around the country on 9/11, Rudy was right there in the middle of it all calming the Nation and keeping order. To soon to start worrying about 2008. I need time to recover!
I think this sounds like a case of you judging the book by the cover. You judged him to be Klanish, when he evidently wasn't. But I agree with you that it's not beyond the realm of possibility that the GOP would field a black or woman candidate.
