Who put up that video of "BadMan" pulling his coach down the court to a lay-up or dunk? Do you remember and would we still have it?
I'm not sure about the video, but there was an NBA Insider article (by Chad Ford... hehe) posted that stated this. It was an impressive article that showed how he wowed scouts in a private workout. What the coach did is tie a bungee cord or something around his waist and then tied the other end to Badiane's waist. He then told him to attack the basket while the coach pulled back on the cord. Apparently Badiane went ape - he was a beast attacking and dunking with this guy tied to his waist. The other thing the scouts witnessed in the workout was the same thing I saw watching him play in the LB Summer Leagues : his non-stop motor. He just keeps going, attacking, running, diving, etc. He's an athletic Mark Madsen in that respect. He's got a 15 foot jumpshot. He's got a baby hook. The negatives to his game I saw were exposed when he had to face Chris Bosh. His lateral quickness wasn't good enough to stay with Bosh. Bosh was too explosive for him to contain - he hadn't seen that kind of quickness. He also seemed to have some problems realizing what the offense was doing and adjusting in time. The Rockets were giving this kid special attention on the floor. Ewing was always coaching him during timeouts about what he was doing wrong and what he should be doing. I want Badiane to be here. If Vin Baker can be on our bench, then so can Malick.
I read your statements, they were all pretty much nonsense. Bottom line is the guy is a scrub and has done zero to change that. Your man crush is getting in the way of common sense. Go back to "malicking" your left one....
If Badiane had Baker's albatross of a contract, he could be sitting on the end of our bench chearleading too. The difference is.... Baker had enough talent at one time to fool someone in to giving him a long term contract. Baker is only in the NBA right now because his contract is guaranteed.
Hmm... a guaranteed contract for a player that does nothing for you yet you keep him on the bench. Or... allow a player who has skills but no training to learn while doing nothing for the team but sitting on the bench during games. I'll take the latter please.
Dunk, you da man!! I so much agree that he could be here. When you such a pronounced need for his skills you have to wonder. Vin Baker had great skillz at one-time, but reports are he fell into a Whiskey bottle. It happens. It's too bad high school just let out for the summer and we have to tolerate Ill mannered posters until August.
Vin's contract is valuable to a team needing cap space. Badiane is worthless to the team, right now. Badiane hasn't proved he's even worth being given the shot you speak of.
It's too bad grammar school let out and we have to tolerate posters like you who don't know jack about basketball.
You're welcome. Now go do what you do looking at your Malick Badiane poster you have over your bunk bed.
Someone has too much time on their hands and not enough basketball common sense or Skillz. Dunk, good posts. Love the nickname. The reason Badman and Span are overseas is because they are prospects and Van Gundy doesn't play youth. if they were worthless or without skillz, we would not have Lindsey in contact with them every week. We are all excited about this guy just the way we were when we had Eric Anthony in our minors for the Astros. Incredible power, couldn't hit a curve. We never found this out until he got to the majors and then we all forgot about him. Most of us want to see what he and Span can do in the majors. We all know he is playing in a league in which the defense would make Phoenix look like a Detrioit and that they don't play 4's that can't shoot threes. He is not developing over there because he does not fit their systems or style. A young Ben Wallace would be riding the pine over there because they don't care about a guy who can block shots and rebound in their system and would only get time when their "star" who can shoot threes is in foul trouble. Most of us want to see if we have another Eric Anthony or a young Bagwell in the making.
from DOD: If this guy is the "jumping jack" people say he is, I want him here practicing against our guys. I don't agree with many here about what's needed in a 4 on this team, but his natural athleticism seems to be everything we don't have. And T-Mac and Yao dogging him now might pay dividends in a year or two that playing in Europe might not. Roster spots are few unless we trade our expiring contracts in the offseason. I hate that, and I hope that JVG's comments about "risk" involve getting a much changed roster. I remember Yao being quoted at SINA being annoyed with Eggie's play, I'd like both he and T-Mac to be able to mold some young guys while they're still young, and the old guys on this team seem likely to kick raw rookie **s probably as well as any coach could. But when I look at the roster and what I think is likely to happen I don't see Badiane having a chance, and I still want that 15th spot to go to Barry. The guy seems to have a perfect feel for getting under people's skin.
