Fair enough. I too want to get away from this race issue. I was making a point that color of skin has nothing to do with height, intelligence, ability, speed, hand size, foot speed or anything else. However, a player's height is a very valid concern.
Don't be so melodramatic. I was being sarcastic, hence the I apologize to Dan Dickau. And most importantly, you, if it offended you so much.
How bout a different New Orleans PG? Speedy Claxton! they have Paul and Dickau so they dont need Claxton, im not sure if hes a FA or not but he would be a good pick up IMO
I am white dude. I should have said unathletic, 5'8", 150 pounds. I am sorry if I offended anybody. Dickau is very small and can't defend anybody. He works very hard, but he gets punished every single night. He would not start on any team, except the Hornets. Not your typical JVG point guard
It's an extreme stretch and very unfair to generalize any section of society as dumb, because the human brain has the same capacity regardless of race. If a black person is uneducated or "dumb" it's because of their socioeconomic status. Anybody that would grow up poor will most likely be unrefined and uneducated. There are plenty of white people who are dumb. While my generalization was wrong, yours was far worse. It's not a stretch to claim that white basketball players are generally not as athletic as black players. Look around the league. My remark might have been insensitive, but it is partially based on fact. Yours is utterly vindictive, unfounded, racist and "dumb".
First, the meaning of "dumb" is "unable to speak." Second, if you will re-read my statements, you will see that my indignation is applicable to all generalistic racist slurs. I am half-Hispanic, half-Caucasian. I do not appreciate disparaging remarks applied to anyone. I believe I made that perfectly clear. Subject is now closed. Argue lack of height or lack of skills or lack of defensive ability -- you get the picture -- and I shall agree or disagree and provide reasons why.
Quit being such a lapdog and provide detail to your opinion. Thrill us with your acumen -- that is, if you have even rudimentary power over the English language.
Is there a reason why you're being such a jerk? Oh, and last I checked Dan Dickau is white and small.
Factual, yes. But...go back and look at the original context. That's what lit the fire. macfan won't let this digression die by twisting what I wrote and then a poster like u851662 comes in with an uninformed, unsolicited inanity. That's why I am irritated. So now, can we return to the Dickau discussion?
I have never seen anything in his game, but I am not an Earl Watson expert. Since we did not draft a true PG like Roko-Leni, I want to see us pick up a true point like Dickau, Duhon, Blake of Washington or Jason Williams (if he is sufficiently healed). Apologies, FishBulb913, I meant to point out that I really like Speedy Claxton's game. All of these short PGs, including Claxton, would require creative defensive sets, but, if anyone can do this, that coach would be JVG. Going back to Watson, I think we have better values in Mike James and Bobby Sura.
We need to avoid one-year wonders. Does anybody remember signing Matt Maloney and Moochie to big deal just because they played well for a short span?
hmmm... jason williams, isn't he white and short? or are you talking about the black and short one? that's right, I'm rekindling the fire...
On a more serious note, I don't really understand the infatuation of having a pure point guard on the team. McGrady is definitely more effective when the ball is in his hands than playing without the ball. Offensively, the team need to surround him with good shooters and people that can move well without the ball and find cutting lanes or open spots for spot-up j's. Pure point guards don't generally do well without the ball because that is not part of their "pure point guard" skillset. Not to mention, it is probably easier to find a hybrid guard that can shoot as opposed to finding a pure point guard that can really hurt you long range.
