Younger Bron on court impact was just more dominant as he did the same thing choosing to team up with Wade/Bosh (almost with Bulls) and then swapped Wiggins for Love with Irving on Cavs second stint, prior to all that he had Mo Will/Big Z in the 07' Finals Older Bron (post 2020) doesn't have that type of elite on court impact anymore which is why Westbrook/Melo experiment failed, plus both Melo/Russ were well past their apex/prime which didn't help, Bron took a major L with these moves, especially the way he bragged on Twitter about it after some called that team with Melo too old to make noise and they were right
It didnt work with all world Luka. It didnt work with Hall of Famer Jason Kidd a stern serious coach. Didnt work on a team that wanted to win. And its seemingly exacerbated with Wood coming off bench not starting, which he will do with Lakers. I was a Wood supporter, but I just dont see him becoming something different. If the Lebron respect factor and championship pedigree doesnt make him buy in, and it seems more unlikely than likely, nothing will.
The Mavericks are not the model franchise, they barely escaped with one title from the Nowitzki era, had problems building around him. Wood is a 18 and 9 player and that is all about him, he is not great all round player. He is best used as some bench scorer when you need buckets and then sit him in the clutch. And he is not a fierce competitor on D, just soft. Very likely the Mavs and Wood deserved each other until they split.
It's not that. Woods fans were putting out the narrative that he was on a tanking squad, lack of a coach and without a real superstar hence his shtty attitude on the court, but once again was proven wrong when he failed to make it work with luka
I am not sure but he had a decent season, was in the 6th man award in the first 50 games........ https://www.espn.com/nba/player/gamelog/_/id/3058254/christian-wood For Chris Wood those were good numbers 16 and 7 in limited 25-26 mpg. He worked well with Luka. That was not the problem. The problem was Luka, Wood and most of them could not defend. They traded away Finney Smith and other defenders for Kyrie. Once they had Kyrie, they were not in need for another scorer in Wood but defenders. There was also other drama but on the court that was their issue. And Kidd is not a good coach. Coincided with their bad record after the All Star Break. Hence they sort of tanked and drafted Lively.
The volatile mood or nature of Wood was pretty well known with the Rockets. But the problem of the Mavericks go deeper than that.
this could be on the daily show. I really laughed hard at the way he described Wood. Haven’t heard so much bs in a long time. ‘Dedicated to excellence’, lmao
I didn't miss his "hold onto a guy's bicep while they shoot" defense, glad to see the entire team force pick and rolls at him.
I think almost all of Wood's problems are mental. I've said it more times than I can count, he's maybe the most frustrating basketball player I've ever watched. Kid has been playing pretty well, finally gets a start, against HOUSTON who basically ran him out of town, and he takes fewer shots than anyone else who stepped foot on the court. Literally EVERYONE who played in the game took more shots than Christian Wood did tonight. WTF?! Dude has some offense, that's about it, and in 22 minutes he takes one shot? Come on. The ****'s wrong with this guy? As always, he's his own worst enemy.
The only right thing he did was to give Alpi a hug before the game. I liked that. I'm not complaining at his abysmal showing. LOL! Sengun had something to do with that.
Wood does to a team's play on the court what Kyrie does to a team's ability to stay together off the court That is to say, completely annihilates it
Absolute head case man. Talented guy, but he just plays like he has no blood in his veins sometimes. Sengun had a field day, as usual.
Never wanted him as a starter, but thought he was better than Jock and other backup centers and has performed well for the Lakers in the backup role. Have no idea why he only took one shot last night other than helping his old buddy out. After hearing our two announcers say “CWood” again 30 times last night, I am now happy he didn’t come back. Don’t think I could take another season of that annoying nickname.
