There aren't enough black people to support an equal amount of black Blockbusters

Black actors wanna have clout, open black studies. Stop begging whites to take financial risks for us

A movie is always a huge financial risks. Banks don't fund movies

    I don't know worse complainer

Million dollar actors or million dollar athletes

NBA players get locked out and have charity games. Good Lord

Blacks need to embrace the land of opportunity instead of b****ing

    Perfect irony

We complain about movies about historical oppression then use the history of oppression to get a comic hero movie saying there is more to us than our struggling

Do people not see the irony

Please let me know of the last blockbuster film starring a predominantly black cast. There are 2 black actors among the top 30 money makers in Hollywood, Johnson and Jackson.

Sure Halle Berry was Storm (also Catwoman). No one is denying blacks have had roles as heroes or the main villain in films. But are you being deliberately obtuse? Black Panther has a black hero, but it also has a 90% black cast. That is what is unique about it. That is what is groundbreaking. That is what is progress.

Also, your posting style lately has been very odd with you Haikuish style. Single sentences. Double spaced.

This was my initial reaction as well. We've got Denzel Washington, Eddie Murphy, Will Smith -- guys who can and have carried movies as the black protagonist and made millions. What I think is interesting about Black Panther is that it was a huge box office blockbuster without any of those guys. They had some actors of some repute, but no one that is a big box office draw on the strength of his personality and fame. Here's a list I found of top grossing black movies. How many of these don't have an already-established star to be the anchor? And none of them can touch Black Panther's box office.

    I'm not being deliberately obtuse

It's a stupid issue that affects no one

There are way more important issues to not be wasting political capital

Thanks old man on comments on my style. I do that because reading bunched up paragraphs on the phone is not easy

    It's not haikus

What political capital is being wasted? Also, you have yet to mention the other blockbuster films that have starred a predominantly black cast. Blacks (and other minorities) getting more and more opportunities in Hollywood affects a whole lot of people.

I can count on 2 fingers the number of TV shows on the 4 major networks that star a predominantly black cast.

    We are 14%

How many Blockbusters and TV shows should we have.

Political capital= we are owed this cause of slavery and Jim Crow

    Our politics is our misery

How Mexican Blockbusters. There are more of them

I guarantee we have more TV shows

Edit: there are Spanish language networks but they are owed by Spanish speakers

I'd say so. Back in the early 90s Boyz N The Hood might count. Singleton was at least nominated. Not sure if any of Spike Lee's count as blockbusters.

Straight Outta Compton and Black Panther have had solid white audiences as well as black.

Your blank lines are wasting a lot of disk space, but I guess you make up for it with your missing words.

Which, again, is a ridiculous point. The only context in which any one of any race is the discussing the film is when comparing their viewing experience to other films in the same genre, in this particular era or in the film industry as a whole. You're projecting your mid-life nonsense on to others based on their single comments about a single media product.

@pgabriel tricked you guys into another nonsensical debate about why black people shouldn't be happy watching a movie featuring black people that doesn't feature slaves. He already has a thread with multiple pages of his ramblings. I'm guessing some of you missed it.
