...the guy in the video wants to put forth an idea about a white panther whatever-it-is-he-wants-to-do (book, movie, board game, whatever)... ...his friends talk him out of it...bad timing for an idea like that... ...lot of inferences could be made...about how much of a copycat mentality exists in corporate America and Hollywood when it comes to what makes money... ...the guy could be showing how tone-deaf he is to one of the big reasons why the Black Panther movie is so widely successful... ...or the guy could just be an idiot. Whatever works for you, I guess. I like option 2 myself...
...you know... ...I wasn't gonna say anything...first day of spring and all...snowflakes were gonna melt anyway...
I A) that thread continued because it apparently attracted some attention B) Yes this thread is similar and I'm interested in the overall subject I didn't realize how much of a big deal and yadayadayada
On the quote "You got your movie" The point it was a stupid complaint to begin with We got to have our own marvel movie is not a civil rights issue Do you disagree?
Do you know what the big deal about Black Panther is with black people. It's literally "we finally got a black marvel comic hero movie" A stupid issue
Really you don't? Children's books with black protagonists have increased recently but have been on the small to none side. Movies with a mainstream target audience with black protagonists have been on the small to none side. Television shows with black protagonists have been on the small to none side. Having a mainstream hero in books, film, and/or television is a big deal. It means something to finally see heroes that resemble a population that hasn't seen heroes resemble people in their families or communities for a lifetime.
You fail to recognize how a white patriarchal power structure impacts a multi-cultural society by perpetuating racial roles.
We foeva first in crime last in school but we got that black marvel man Our problems are all solved or will be because of Black Panther upliftment Good Lord
We as blacks are searching for something not there. We condemn well made movies about our past cause it hurts We just want everything whites have that we like no matter how trivial but we don't want to fully assimilate as to hold on to a past we can't face Got me going in circles Rounddddd and Rounddddd and Rounddddd I go Friends of Distinction
Our society is bombarded by the agenda of a white patriarchal culture. If you don't think that has consequences then you're not paying attention. Having positive role models of your own race/culture/gender is important whether it's super hero movies or school teachers. That you don't think it's important doesn't make it so.
Yeah, the next time you post a thread about American school performance will be the first. Instead you'd rather whine about why people are excited about Black Panther. You sure ramble a lot about nothing.
