I think that prove DaDa's point. It took those guys several years to make a serious impact while Francis and Mobley want frontcourt help, or impact help NOW! It might not be taking Griffin long to develop compared to the other young players, but when it comes to making a big impact with the Rockets it's relatively slow, thus it would be nice to get some help to help the Rocks win next year.

So I guess Cuttino feels he's already matured as a player? Interesting...

Usually, when you've gone from 2nd round pick to 20+ ppg scorer, you've developed quite a bit.

Yeah, when you are in the top ten in your position, and top 15 in scoring overall, I think it's fair to say you have arrived. Damn, so many teams would kill to have Cat and there are still haters. There's a top tier with guys like Kobe, T-Mac, A. I., and Allen. Then there is the next SG tier with guys like Cat, Stack, Finley and Houston. Cat is better than Houston and gets paid a 1/3 of what he does. Cat haters, please tell me what we can get in a trade that would replace Mobley because everybody who compares to him makes way more money, so we would have to trade him for some trash that would take up much needed roster spots. You guys need to start seeing the bigger picture and not just pick on Mobley because he isn't PERFECT.

Ok, maybe this will shut you up:
    From Philly Inquirer:
    http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/sports/3385009.htm

No more projects. The Houston Rockets are leaning toward snatching 7-foot-5 center Yao Ming of China with the first pick of this month's draft, and they are seeking the support of Philly native Cuttino Mobley and franchise player Steve Francis. Francis and Mobley have other ideas.

"I'd rather us work out a deal to get someone like [Los Angeles Clippers forward] Lamar Odom," Mobley said.

"I don't want another project, having to be patient in watching someone develop. Me and Steve have been going through that long enough. If Ming is ready to come and contribute, I'm all for it. Even though he's skinny, he's got really thick calves and thighs, and I like that. Plus, he throws a tremendous outlet pass, which will help our fastbreak. But if he's not ready, we need to get somebody that's ready."

Look Mobley isn't against Ming if he contributes, he's just sick of losing and doesn't want to wait another 3 years.

    MING,ODOM?

Doesn't really matter,Cat is going to jack up whatever he wants.

I think he's a good player but so was Rodman.

He is prone to make bad decisions and take stupid shots.

He's great when he makes them and stupid when he misses.

He just better realize and so should everyone else.

Rockets to be successful must make Cat the third option.

Thank you for that Tozai. Now I feel a little better about things. I personally don't want to see Steve or Cuttino go anywhere. Unlike some people here...r****dS!:)

The irony of Cuttino's quote is staggering. In order for the Rox to be a title contender we need better guard play (in addition to a center and improved low post play). Cat and Stevie and TLD need to play better defense, quit dribbling so much, make better ball handling decisions, and take better shots.

If there were anyone "ready" and available, the Rox would get them, but there isn't (while Odom would be a nice addition, he will not make the Rox title contenders). Good thing CD and not Cat is our GM.

Even if Ming is all that, given the age and maturity of the rest of the team, IMO this team is 3 to 5 years away from winning a title, and if Cat thinks different, he should study up on the makeup of past NBA champions.

    Nice post, Pipe.

I'm not a "Cuttino-hater" at all. I just found it amusing that he disapproves of the Rockets drafting Yao Ming because of the idea that Yao might need time to develop. Cuttino might be in the top-whatever, but like everyone else, he had to develop to get to where he's at now (others had to "wait" on him, too). The arrogance of this guy can be amazing sometimes.

It seems very unprofessional and immature for one of our team leaders to blatantly disappove of someone on the basis that their not "proven", etc. A true professional wouldn't be so concerned with what everyone else was bringing to the table, he would be busy improving his own deficiencies and weaknesses for the benefit of the team.

It's good that Cutino wants to win but Odom is not a panacea.
In fact, his offcourt issues may become a distraction.

Odom is a very talented player but he's not worth a #1 pick. Assuming we do get extra pick(s) this draft is heavily weighted with SF's.

I understand what Cat is trying to say but he shouldn't be so myopic in his assesment of the Rockets. Adding Odom will not get us close to a title so we should trust Rockets management and take the chance on Ming.

Also, most professionals defer to management in these type of decisions or keep their personal views private.

I guess you haven't heard too much about Cuttino Mobley. If anyone in the league works on improving their game, it is the Cat. The results show in his constant improvement, not only from season to season, but during the course of the season as well.

What kind of people did Pao Gasol play against in the Euro leagues?
    Marc Jackson? :p

He was paper thin on banging the inside, but he was a great shooter. He was decent on the blocks, but his non-existent European defense was overlooked because of his age and his potentially limitless Dirk-like game.

Pao is a building block, just like Ming is, and hopefully Cat isn't so deluded to think that a team that went 2-20 without their best player can go deep into the playoffs without a credible defensive inside position...

By the way cuttino reacted when asked if he would like the rockets to pick Ming, it was quite obvious he was against it. Obviously he wouldnt straight up say, "I dont want him". But, his body language definitly did. Not a myth.

The day after the lottery Mobley was asked on television what the team should do with the pick and he answered, "The big guy." When pressed he said "Ming." Obviously he had a change of heart -- I guess after talking to Steve.

The way people talk about it now it's like Cat's anti-Ming. He was persuaded or came to believe there was a better option. That doesn't make him anti-Ming. He's never said that. And since he was quoted as saying he'd prefer a 'proven' player, a lot of encouraging info has come out about Ming, to the degree that a lot of previous doubters have come to believe he IS proven.

Once everything's worked out in China I'd be very surprised if we didn't hear positive quotes from Steve or Cat about Ming. I expect that by draft day this whole 'controversy' will weigh about as much as that old hype about China's 'outrageous demands.'
