Tell me about it. Mavs threads are friggin' dominating the Dish today. Why are all of you guys so obsessed with them? They ain't nothing but a good team whose ass we'll dust in the playoffs.
LUCKY Doubt it. They have played really well the last 2 seasons. They have a great offense and pretty good defense. Avery has taken this team to another level, and add in the fact they have one of the deepest rosters in the league and Cubes as the owner (who cares if the team has $92 milllion dollar pay roll, it just goes to show that the owner is really committed to trying a win championship). This team just went to the finals last year, and I think the really there is one team that's standing in their way to win one: The Spurs. At full strength, everybody on this board keeps saying we can be Dallas, but the thing is can we do 4 times in 7 game series without homecourt advantage. Remember, we lost by 40 in a game 7, that is horrible. Everybody keeps screaming we can beat the Mavs or Spurs in the playoffs. I don' think it is going to be that easy. I would rather play Phoenix, because they are little more beatable because they don't play great defense like the other teams do. They're not as balanced. Like I've mention many times before if you go back and watch the first round of the playoffs last year, The Lakers(Phil Jackson) pretty laid out a blue print of how to beat Phoenix. Much pretty much like any other run n gun team with lots great shooters.
They are good because they are hungry and they play hard almost every single night. They have a killer instinct.......right now they are the team to beat. DD
Mavs are awesome because they have great chemistry and play great offense and great defense. They are quick, atheltic, professional, and shoot the ball well. And they have a superstar in Dirk who sets the tone and hits the big shots. They are the clear favorites to win the ring this year and may be the best team thus far this century.
what if they don't win it all this year? then what do they do? if they make it to the finals they are going to destroy whoever it is from the east.
Right on target... Say what you want about the Mavs.. Love them or Hate them... They are well coached. But the biggest difference with the Mavs agains other teams is ADJUSTMENT!!! Avery, will adjust to the team and the situation. T_Man
Not to sure about that. The east is horrible, to say the least, but i think that team up in Detroit my give any team in west a good series. They don't have Ben, but I think he is in decline. They're offense is pretty good and still have an above average defense, they're very similar to Dallas. They can slow teams down on certain nights, not like they did in the past, but is still ago.
ya but its not just dallas' starting 5 thats the problem. in that case anyone can beat dallas. well not anyone..but u get me. its the fact that their freakin bench is just as good as other teams starting lineups.
If Dallas wins it all this year or the next (God forbid) that's probably because they pretty much bought the trophy. Just look at how much Cuban spends on his roster compared to most other teams. Also look at how he changed the refs' decision making in the playoffs against us. I'm glad the refs favored Dwade more than Cuban last year. But look out for similar, but improved, Cuban antics come playoff time. If Cuban can just buy a championship for half his fortune, I bet he would.
To the guy saying that Dallas's payroll is the reason why they're winning, look again: If you take away the names of the players who were waived or retired, Dallas's actual total is only $61-million, good for no. 21 or 22 at the league's top salaries and 3.8 less than Houston.
He will choke AGAIN. Book it. It's hard to win one when your superstar isn't clutch. Well, the Pistons did it...but they really didn't have a superstar. Too bad Sheed never wanted to be one.......
And on top of that I don't see how they are so deep? I can only name 3 players I would have after Dirk and Howard...
I think the Mavs are good because they basically got 4 shooting guards and 1 center as starters. Thats not including Stackhouse and Devean George, and Harris. Its hard to create mismatches with them cause they can switch defensively without much problem so they defend the pick and roll well.I think in order to beat them it has to be done in the post.Thats where Yao and Bonzi can kill them.
They held the Wolves last night to less than 30% shooting. No team has ever done that to Minnesota before. Not even us Rockets.
Agree they are good, but c'mon "Team of the Century"...Give me a break...They only went to the Finals last year for the first time ever...And then they choked...You can say that when they've one back to back titles and been to the Finals at least the majority of a century... btw, Mavs still suck...
