Half of this is true. Our PG obviously does not need to score the ball for us to win. There are plenty of examples, tonight being one. Half of this is true. In no way is Brooks more effective at running any type of offense compared to Lowry. Pairing something that is true along with something that is completely fabricated does not make the entire statement true. It makes it a half-truth which in my observations you have been quite adept at.
Our backcourt will need to average 35+ppg for us to win games. If Martin can score 40 points every night, then you are right, our PG doesn't have to score at all. Plus we played the Cavaliers. The worst team in the league at guarding the 3pt shot. Sounds like heaven for Martin.
Get your Laker & Yao worshipping, Loves Everything BUT The Rockets sorry ass out of here. You add NOTHING.
I do not think it is important who starts though it seems better to start with lowry. It is more important who is on the court at the end of the game. Like Landry and Scola.
Why? With AB we lead in almost every first half. Our problem this year wasn't the starting of game but falling apart in the second half. And at the end of game the can even play both, it really works last year. or maybe better combination of Kyle Martin or Brooks Lee, both combination had worked well in the back court.
I always thought that Brooks was slightly better than Lowry on offense, but I may have to review that opinion, he has been horrible on offense these past 2 games, I am not even talking about his missed shots but his decision making is very shaky right now.
Really, so this is what it has come down to, judging a guy that is coming back after missing 21 games by his first couple of games getting back? Really? Seriously? WOW ! I guess when the Rox were down 4 and AB nailed that big 3 pointer from 28 feet, we really didn't need that...right? Unreal...seriously...un****ing real ! DD
That's what happens when you have a long layoff and come back to a role you are not use to playing....But hey we won't act like Lowry went through the same struggles at first. And we will just ignore that critical 3 hit when the game was slipping away.
That 3 was the most horrible shot I have seen this season from a rocket, that shot was atrocious, it was lucky it went in cos if it missed, those type of shots absolutely kill teams.
that 3 by aaron was one of the worst offensive possesions of the game...great that it went in but if it doesnt oh man we would have been in big trouble....dribbling at the top of the 3 for 10 seconds and taking a contested fade 3 is not my idea of a good possession not when there was plenty of time to set up a play. AB shooed away Scola from setting a screen and pulled that 3 out of his butt...i am happy it went in but more often than not a shot like that will not go in right now not really upset at AB's lack of shot making but his decision making thats not really something that gets "rusty" if anything he should have been able to watch a lot of film and pick up the tendencies of all the guys on the team and the different plays that the team should run given the circumstances
I'd give Brooks some time to get his rhythm back. Lowry was horrible the first few games after coming back.
he still looks shaky on that anke. he opted to back out of his dribble and go for the jumper because i think he doesnt have the confidence to push off that ankle to elevate for a drive. lets see how brooks is playing 2-3 weeks from now before we make any judgements on his play.
Like others said, unfair to evaluate Brooks while he's regaining his timing. Ultimately at both players' peaks I still think Brooks is best off being the spark-off-the-bench guy, but we'll give him some time to prove us wrong in the meanwhile. But eesh, today it was like 3-on-5 in that second quarter with Brooks and Budinger being such offensive liabilities.
Brooks will get better. But even when AB was healthy like the first 5 games, he wasn't playing at the level Lowry is playing now. In fact, Lowry's play in this month is better than AB in any of his months with Rockets. AB can score, AB can shoot, but he doesn't have defense, rebounds and game changing hustle plays like Lowry. And he doesn't have Lowry's court vision and awareness of passing for a better shot.
HELL ****ING YES !! Wait until we play some decent teams that actually play defense...... Should I come back and bump all these threads too? Nah...I think I will pass on that.... DD
Bump the threads or not, you'll lose your argument at the end of the season. So it may be in your best interest not to bump those threads.
To be honest, the way Lowry has been playing lately, I'm starting to think Aaron should stay on the bench even after he has fully recovered. I was never in favor of Lowry starting while his jumpshot was suspect, but now that he's automatic from 3-point range he pretty much has no significant weaknesses. He's never going to be the scorer or go-to guy Aaron is, and that probably weighs on which of the two you depend on to finish games, but at this point I think he should stay in his starting role.
