As I pointed out in my original post, I acknowledged their has always been a faction that was for Lowry. I am just merely voicing my opinion (and it is one that feels what we have seen over the last few games is enough to justify starting Lowry over Brooks) And it is not like I am claiming I am the new wave of supporters for Lowry. I am asking if there are any more folks that have recently changed their minds (like myself). I wasn't being clevered when I was bolstering my credibility (what?) by being a Brooks supporter.

JCDenton is very stupid. As someone who has been on the board awhile, I would say the mods look at the entirety of his threads (and his non-honoring or bets lost) and think about him being a worthy poster?

It's impressive, how you continue to post as if you haven't been exposed as an idiotic McGrady supporter who doesn't honor his bets.

Where I have a problem with this reasoning, and it's reasoning I've mulled over myself as possibly a good direction when both AB and Yao are back and playing serious minutes (or as serious as Yao's minutes are going to get this season), is that those three haven't played together to show that it will work, or that Lowry wouldn't be as good an option, or a better one. So it is all speculation. Meanwhile, we see Kyle actually playing games, having a significant positive impact and improving pretty much game by game.

As others have pointed out, while Yao is a huge addition (no pun intended) whenever he does come back at full strength, with AB and Martin, you still have a very porous defensive backcourt, operating more as Swiss cheese, then like a Swiss watch. I don't think Yao's return will cover all those sins. He'll help, no question about it, but he's not guarding the perimeter (obviously), and isn't quick enough to rush at a perimeter shooter and alter his shot, not in this dimension, anyway. Perhaps in a parallel universe, where the dominant intelligent creatures resemble elephants and move like them.

So, like most of us, you're guessing.

I find it humorous that you claim to be "knowledgeable" yet cant see what is right in front of you.

Morey and Adelman inhereted the Dawson/JVG Rockets.

Morey/Adelman want to build a team that can properly execute Adelman's system. They do not pick a bunch of players and try to pit them against each other to see who earns the starter spot as most tend to believe. They pick up pieces that either fit the system or they can hype up and trade for a piece that does fit. Ever wonder why all the "exciting" players get traded? "Man Landry was exciting, boy could he dunk!" Gone, for an Adelman piece." Man Ariza was exciting, boy could he dunk!" Gone, for an Adelman piece. "What do you mean we are going after Bosh, that guy is a loser, not someone you could build around!" Rockets pushed harder for this guy in trades and FA, than I can ever remember. Bosh was the final piece, the center piece, the Chris Webber for this team.

You slowly see player movement. Some leaving, so coming. Particulary active are Rocket/Kings trades which makes sense because Adelman picked most of those players and is now simply transfering his building blocks from Sacramento to Houston.

Keep in mind, the key to the Adelman system is the PF position, in which the bulk of the offense is created and the PG spot. Now what was the first thing Adelman did when he got here? He drafted a PG and a PF. Landry never panned out the way they wanted him too. He was an effective player, but they are still trying to get that passing/shooting PF (Bosh) to initiate the offense. They moved him for another piece that did fit in Adelmans system, in Martin.

He picked up Brooks because Rafer was the worst possible fit for the Adelman offense, and Brooks was ideal. Once Adelman got here, Rafers days were numbered. Brooks is Adleman's guy, he developed him into the PG he wanted him to be. When Lowry got here, they specifically said they wanted him because he drew alot of fouls and pushed the tempo more than anyone in the league. They had no intention of him starting, neither then, nor now.

Lowry, like Landry is a good player. He, like Landry, peaks at a certain MPG. Lowry has benefited from more usage which bumps up his raw points and assists, but if you track his effeciency, you find he is far more effective when he plays less minutes. You can bet your bottom dollar Adelman and company know this. The poor kings learned this lesson trying to start Landry. His effeciency went way down as his minutes went way up. The reason I know this is because Morey quoted this when someone asked him why Landry doesnt start over Scola.

Theres a map right in front of you, IE the pinnacle of Adelman's system: late 90's, early 00 Sacramento Kings. This may be informative to you:

If you follow the changes they made in Adelmans tenure, you can see the similarities here:

-Richmond, good player, but isolation player. Similar to McGrady, they dumped him.

-Christie/Peja. Defensive stopper and off the ball shooter. Similar to Battier/Martin combo. (also Lee)

Now you should probably be asking yourself, which of our PGs is more like Bibby and which is more like White Chocolate? I know this is hard to believe since the idiot train has everyone believing Brooks is on his way out and Lowry is the PG of the future, but it is much more likely that the Rockets sell high on Lowry since they overpaid and he is playing well right now.

I really like Lowry, I mean I really do, but does not fit the mold of what Adelman is trying to create with the starting five. They don't want a ball dominant PG. If they did they would of picked up Collison for Ariza when they had the chance. They want the PG to be an off the ball player like Bibby was.

The more and more they Lowry fan brigade stirs up the pot, the more people are going to dissapointed once thier prediction of Lowry starting never happens. Use the context clues available to you and you can see what is going to happen.

    To Deckard:

Lowry's audition as a starting point guard has satisfied me, but simply starting him over Brooks is not profound enough, that won’t be the cure to our woes.

Go ahead and call it a guess, when Yao and Aaron come back we are almost starting from scratch again, December is likely to be auditions for the immediate future and this roster's highest ceiling can only be attained with those three leading the way.

on the downside, we can’t expect everything to click right away and maybe the writing is already on the wall and we need to let go of some of our core players and shift to another plan.

We talked about this in many thread. The ONLY reason that Brooks is starting is his shooting accuracy. Lowry beat him in everything else. It's true Yao complement Brooks better, without Yao, Brooks should be benched. Yao help out Brooks in term of defense too...so that he gets beat, which he often does...Yao is there to guard.

Lowry just need to shoot better, then he will start. The way Lowry is shooting, he should start...he helps out the perimeter defense too. Brooks suck at D.

    You are way overthinking this.

The sactown team was constructed to build around their franchise player Chris Webber, not some magical adelman system.

The blazers were a completely different team cos they were built around Drexler.

Note that when webber was traded, they blew everything up and contructed a completely different team while Adelman was still there.

I am sorry because I know how big of a fan you are of Lowrys, but you are incorrect.

You are welcome to continue down the Lowry parade, but if Brooks is moved its going to be for a better version of him, not Lowry.

No, you are. First it was "PGs can't get assists in Adelman's system." Now it's "Brooks is the only PG on the team who fits Adelman's system."

Lowry is the better PG. Brooks is a SG in a midget body.

last season the rockets went on a losing stretch in spring, that was because lowry was out with an injury. I remember everyone on the forums clamouring for Lowry and stating how Brooks isn't a PG. Brooks lack of passing ability and defense was magnified when Lowry was gone.

Now that Brooks is out, the team seems fine, winning against OKC, LAL, and barely losing against CHI. It doesn't seem like the team misses Brooks shooting, with Lowry, Martin, and Miller chipping in.

I don't really think that the dialogue going on between the two of you is non-compatible. Trugoy's response to Larsv8 doesn't change what he said. Chris Webber was the guy they built around. Yao Ming is the guy Morey and Adelman inherited to build around. What Trugoy and Larsv8 said both make sense. It just seems like Morey is thinking beyond Yao Ming. They're looking for another player to build the team around, while picking up good role-players that fit within the system that Adelman has implemented. If a franchise player becomes available, we can put a lot of chips on the line and still be able to quickly surround that player with the appropriate players to have a championship caliber team.

Pretty sure "cant" wasnt the word used.

The system is designed around ball movement initated through the high post. Assists are tallied by players position on the court and happenstance.

Players can still get assists on fast breaks.

    Interesting points.

My comment about Brooks is he is essentially an "iso" player. That's where his greatest advantage lies, in the clear outs and let him take his man one-on-one. The passing game comes when opponents compensate for Brooks by trapping him out on the floor and forcing him to give the ball up.

At this time, Lowry facilitates ball movement much better than Brooks does. He reminds me a lot of Terry Porter. If you are going to look at what Morey and Adelman are building, you might want to look back to Portland a little more and consider how those teams were built, including the unit that lost to the Bulls in the Finals, a place the Kings never got to.

Morey is getting the best players he can. He is NOT trying to reconstruct the old Sacramento Kings. If he was, he wouldn't have gone after Carmelo.

Saying assists are just "happenstance" in the halfcourt set in Adelman's system is overstating it. Besides, Lowry is getting many more assists than Brooks, system or not, starters or not.

Adelman can win with different types of players. He can do it with either Brooks or Lowry at starting PG.

His greatest strength is he can play both on and off the ball.

    I didn't watch Adelman's blazers, so I can't speak to that.

No it isn't. You clearly don't understand what the offense is or how it works if you believe that.

And as for your many more....

    Comparing apples to apples

    Brooks 4 full games this season: 6.2 assist/g ..... 2.25 TO/g
    Lowry this season: 6.8 assist/g ..... 2.63 TO/g

We can go on and on all day. All I am saying is there is a reason why things are the way they are. The Lowry brigade may not agree with it but just try not to be outraged if Brooks isnt moved at the deadline or loses his starting role.

Brooks would have hit his free throws in the clutch.
