We can all sum up and analyze the metrics and consider all factors that one can think of. The bottom line is that with Brooks taking it upon himself to be the main scoring threat, the Rockets are mired in mediocrity. Make up all the excuses you want, at the end of the day what matters is that the Rockets, as of now, with Brooks as the court general, triggerman, quarterback and shooter in chief, are a lottery team. The PG position, more than any other, is the area that needs the most upgrading if the Rockets were to win the championship next year or in the near future. Of course, that is predicated upon the relatively good health of Yao, Scola and Martin. Remember this post.
I think it's more mental fatigue than physical fatigue. A single game can't be attributed to it, unless like you say there are patterns. He's just in a 3p funk, but his overall shooting is up, which goes back to what I was saying that his shooting is better. I'm more interested in how he and Martin do with the regular crew in the lineup until Rick shuts them down at the end of the season. These numbers now are nice, more assists, better FG, with lower 3P. But I'd put more stock in the numbers these last few games with the whole backcourt intact.
And if either of the PGs are traded to make the team better, I treat them the same way I did Landry. Good luck at your next stop, I appreciate your efforts in a Rockets uniform. Oh, and don't turn into a Rocket killer.
Um, I believe Rick Adelman is the one telling Aaron to do what he is doing. If he ISN'T, then he should reel Aaron in and try to get things under control. Personally I think the ballhog alpha male stuff is hogwash made to fit what someone thinks they see on the court.
not exactly I have relatives in California and visit often so I've seen him play. He was their only scorer at the time and he is consistent but often shot wide open shots only. What did he do consistently(idk)? I'm basing most arguments when he was here b/c... he will be here making the same plays in the same offense for a couple of years now. Let me answer your question with another question b/c i like questions too. Do the Rockets have elite players in other positions that can take over a game in the 4th *ahem landry* quarter and are here nearly all season?
he's been here a month after an injury to his shooting hand and he's already averaging 20 plus points per game and 10 free throws per game so you're only looking at this year.. okay
not really I was basing my opinions about Martin about this year. So uh let me know when we get some elite talent b/c ur not answering my question(s)?.
I guess I will agree to disagree. I'm sorry for doucheing. Kevin Martin is good at scoring and I don't see why we would need 2 freethrow shooters racking up pts in the starting lineup. Refs will eventually swallow their whistles. Lowry is good but imo Brooks is a stronger threat. If defense is Lowry's case as a pass first PG then... why do we need a defensive minded PG to defend the elite team's pass first PG? j/k I like how we have the lineups set already because we get to bring Lowry off the bench and use him to spark a different offense as well as defend the opposing PG if needed. Get well soon Lowry.
Funny how things keep repeating itself over and over when you don't do the logical thing. It just makes basketball sense at this point.
Yeah with Lowry and Battier on offense they would be down by 15 at the end of every first quarter. Dumb ideas are dumb. DD
If you trade out Brooks and Yao for Lowry and Miller, you get a big time floor spread with Miller playing way up high, you get the spacing for Scola to operate in the paint, and you get the spacing for Lowry to run PnR with Miller and get to the rim and get the contact. Then you come back with Yao and Brooks as soon as you get in the bonus, keep pounding the ball to Yao and let him get the easy dunks/layups/high percentage hook shot, or you get the shooting foul and Yao automatically on the line. This is the change that needs to take place, especially with Yao limited to 24 minutes. If we are going to only play Yao 24 minutes, then those 24 minutes should be when we are in the bonus. So, if we play Miller over Yao, then Miller is a high post spacing player. Might as well put in Lowry, get the PnR and PnPop working with Miller and get Lowry on the floor collecting fouls and creating defensive havoc.
