I'm not a KENNYHATER! If he hit the game winning shot I wouldn't be surprised! I just think if RUDY is going to go 3guard he should have bigger guys who were being successful all night. Griffin may have been missing shots but he was changing them as well. You will never see a post from me saying KENNY CAN'T SHOOT. This post was more about RUDY than KT. THe 3 guard thing works when we're hitting shots. And it works when Cato has a set up everytime down the floor. The fact is even if Cato was there who knows if our guards would have chose to be the heroes and hoist up like they did or if they would have passed to him. I'm starting to wonder if our team is too selfish sometimes. I don't care if EG was shooting bad you pass to the open man STEVE. Not pick up your dribble in a double team.

Exactly!!!! Get off Kenny's case. He was a part of that lineup that made this game competitive in the first place. The Mavs could not find an answer for the Kenny, Cato, Griffin frontline. Don Nelson was desperately reaching for a combination to match it (like putting in Danny Manning for Nowitzki). The Mavs looked dead until Rudy started subbing Cato and Griffin to get Moochie on the court. I always thought Rudy was a coach who stuck with what works. I just don't understand the substitutions... unless all this is just part of Tank City 2001-2002.

Also, the Kenny bashers keep dropping in that <b>IF</B> Cato was in the game...

Cato played most of the 4th.http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28390

He was subbed in and out various times but be played most of the time.

KT played fine. Team defense lacked in the 4th. Nash was allowed to penetrate too much.

    Kenny got game.

Kenny got Kevin Willis arms too though... :(

He is a solid Offensive player - could easily avg 15-20pts a night.

He got so much quicker in the offseason, really helped his O. But his D is lacking I don't care how quick you are, when a dude has 5 inches on you (Dirk), then you are in trouble. Especially with his short arms.

I like Kenny T a lot. I think he plays great starting for us. He has to work on his outside shot and free throws though. He has awesome foot work and a killer spin move. I love his two handed jams. I think next year he will be a great bench guy to counter MoT and Griffin.

He could start on other teams in the NBA and that is what makes him good trade material.

I don't know why KT was guarding Dirk in the end. I actually thought he just got caught on him when Griffin went over to help. Can't say enough about EG - 7 Blocks! Where was Cato at in the 4th?

Wink3Cat5 summarized KTs skills quite nicely. I woudl add that if KT were 3 inches taller he would be the best player on the team and one of the top players in the NBA.

    Wow...

    Now, I've heard it all.

Hahahaha. KT is BARELY able to get the ball over the goal to dunk it.

Does this explain why he gets posted up 2 ft from the basket? Or does it explain why his man grabs more offensive boards, than KT does defensive boards?

Good grief, you should take your own advice on being objective.

If KT is not a Rocket, you probably wouldn't want the Rockets to go after him.

And he is not a starter on probably 3/4th of the teams around the league.

If being a below average starter, means getting all this praise, I can't imagine what some of you would have done if we had Webber.

For once I agree with just about everything Timing said.

This board has a fixation with bashing players that don't aren't "ideal." But you know what will happen if we throw them all away? We'll lose. A lot.

Want to play GM? You guys sound a lot like Jerry Krause. Well, if we ditch all of our serviceable role players... and really, really suck... then we can draft 5 18 year-olds in successive drafts that will eventually dominate the NBA!

While we're at it, let's nab...

    A 20/10/3 center
    A 15/10/2 PF
    a 17/8 SF
    a 20 point SG
    and a 20/10 PG

And while we're at it, how about a 15 point super-sub off teh bench... plus an extra touch shot blocker just for kicks... hmmmm... and maybe a 3 point specialist? Oh, and don't forget the pass-first point guard!

The '86 Celtics might have come somewhat close to that line-up, but I can't think of another team that would have. Any team in the modern NBA is going to have some imperfect players. And you guys are right: Kenny isn't perfect. But he's got some nice moves, can get to the foul line, rebounds fine, and plays smart defense. No, he's not going to block 3 shots a game like Griff.

But you know what? Griff can cover help cover that up. Just like Kenny can supplement Griff's lack of any NBA post game whatsoever.

Kenny's had one-too-many 20 point games to be a fluke. He's carried the team at times. And I'm really glad we have him. I wish we had a Webber. But we don't. Maybe we'll get one some day... or maybe Kenny will return to the bench when Mo comes back. But I think he's doing just fine.

Like I said. Get a clue! Kenny's gone to the rim hard several times. He can barely get the ball over the rim? Please. Its obvious that Kenny is quicker than most people who guard him? So you're telling me he's gonna be as quick as he is, yet can hardly get off the ground. Quickness and jumping ability usually go hand and hand.

What are yout talking about? I never even mentioned anything about rebounds or his defensive ability. Two things which could be attributed to his lack of height. I said he's not afraid to take the ball in side and doesn't mind getting physical.

No, I wouldn't really want the Rockets to got after him. Haven't you ever heard of a role player, or is your basketball IQ really that low? I wouldn't neccesarily want the Rockets to go after Popeye Jones either, but there's no denying he's a solid basketball player who contributes to his team.

Yea, and what's your point? Don't you realize he's not even a starter for this team!! Mo will resume the role as starter when he returns. Kenny is just simply having to fill in for him and doing a pretty damn good job. He's putting up good numbers and shooting nearly 50% on the season. What's really doing that is so bad. Look closely at his numbers. You're going to tell me that he is not a solid contributor to this team? Maybe this all traces back to your low basketball IQ.

And once again I have to ask what you're talking about, when you say "getting all this praise." I don't think anybody is showering him with praise, but simply defending him from unfounded and untelligent bashing from fans like you.

When did I say KT wasn't quick? And you are making an assumption that he can jump high because he is quick. He is quick because he as great footwork. Footwork and jumping have nothing to do with each other.

How conveeeeeenient. I guess PF's aren't needed to rebound or play interior defense? That's like saying Shaq would be an awesome SG, if he could dribble and shoot... I could care less what the hell he does, if he can't rebound. I think you're the one with the "low basketball IQ" if you haven't come to grips with the reality that PF's must be able to rebound and defend well.

The one thing I will agree with you is that KT makes a solid/good backup PF.

However, I consider Griffin a PF, and Mo a PF. Add KT to the mix, and you have 3 PF's who deserve 20+ minutes. Do the math, someone will get screwed out of PT. Therefore, I've come to the conclusion that trading on of the 3 would be wise.

Griffin is a future all-star, so he is untradable. Mo is basically untradable because he makes 7 mill a year, and he hasn't played this year. Which leads me to KT... Stat-wise, he is doing well. Hopefully teams will bite and offer the Rockets something decent because KT has put up good numbers. As a Rocket, KT's value is as high as it will ever be. Assuming Griffin doesn't go down the drain.

By no means, am I saying that KT is above average. What I am saying is that his stats certainly do portray him to be a servicable PF, on a team that needs PFs. Obviously, we don't need PF's. Toss in the fact that Mo is basically a 6 ft 9 KT, so losing KT would be basically replaced completely with Mo.

If we don't trade KT after the year, he will be a 2nd or 3rd string PF, who won't be averaging 13 and 7, effectively killing his trade value.

Yes it helps is PFs are good rebounders and defenders. I'm not going to say its neccesary because I recall Charles Barkley wasn't all that great of defender. Kenny is not going to be able to block shots. That comes as a result of the guy who he is guarding being taller than him the majority of the time. But Kenny doesn't sit there and let people push him around, as Abdur-Rahim would tell you. He grabs 7 rebounds per game which is unbelievable compared to what Mo Taylor does. Oh my God, I can't even imagine how much you must hate Maurice Taylor, because he won't even get physical eventhough he has the physical characteristics for it. There is no doubt that Kenny's physical stature is a problem for the power forward position, but I'm not going to sit here and bash him because of it. What can I say. I guess I'm just one of those crazy fans who prefers supporting his team to bashing them.

Helen Keller seemed to have the same condition that you have.

As for Barkley, at the very least, he was able to match points and rebounds with the man he was guarding.

KT grabs 6-7 boards, while his man grabs 13. KT scores 13, while his man will score 20 or so.

Some people call that a mis-match. You might call that a "good job".

And yes, I am not a Mo Taylor fan at all. At the very least, I can say KT works hard and hustles. I can't say the same about Mo.

Well, I seriously doubt Kenny gives up 13 rebounds every night. Especially with the crazy zone defense, who's to say the player on the other team who has a good rebounding night was strictly Kenny's man? I'll answer: Nobody. And I know there's been occasions this season, where Kenny has outscored his opponent.

So anyways, are you saying you are never going to be satisfied with a player unless they match there opponents numbers every night on the average? Well, once again we're getting back to the concept of role players that you seem to have a hard time understanding. Kenny often times guards the likes of Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitzki, and Karl Malone. These players are commonly referred to as "superstars." Kenny is the third or fourth go to guy on the Rockets basketball team. To say he is not good because he doesn't match some of the other teams #1 and #2 options is unfair and stupid. If Kenny holds someone like Duncan to 20 points and scores 13 points himself I may not say he did a good job. But I sure as hell wouldn't say he did a bad job, and proceed to bash him for it.

I mean, don't you ever like rooting for an underdog? That's pretty much what Kenny is. He's a guy who is making a name for himself in the NBA against the odds. I'm glad you can at least acknowledge Kenny's hard work, but I'm getting the impression you don't like him simply because he is not and never will be a superstar, and that the Rockets should trade anyone who doesn't meet your requirement of potentially reaching that level. I just simply don't agree with that. There's a name for that kind of thinking - its called the Portland Trailblazers.

Oh, and in case anyone wants to see Kenny barely getting over the rim for a dunk, you can take a look at the highlights for the Raptors game. I'll even provide the link.

Okay, I'm off to see the Wizards.

I don't like KT in the sense that he tries too much to be a one-man team on offense. Too many forced shots against double and triple teams.

As for that dunk against the Raptors, KT didn't jump all that high. He just went around Davis. I have said before and I'll say again that I know KT has a quick first step. That has absolutely no relation to the fact that KT is not a good jumper. Using your logic, Maurice Green should be able to dunk a basketball from the 3 pt line.

I used to root for underdogs, when I was like 15 years old. I try to as objective as I can and I don't really play favorites. I will bash any player who deserves bashing, and I will praise players who deserve it.

Right now, not too many Rockets other than maybe Cato and I guess Francis deserve any praise.
