If the Lakers win their next two home games, Kobe should and will be the MVP. If they don't, no excuses from you Kobe nutt huggers if he doesn't get it (CP or KG). Simple as that.

Lakers were considered a good team, then got Gasol and that's when everyone labeled them as the team to beat. It wasn't that Kobe changed his game any.

NO's success can be attributed to CP3, and it always has been. He deserves the MVP.

The Celtics have the largest turn-around in NBA history while Chis Paul leads a team from not making the playoffs last year to having homecourt advantage in the first round, all the while leading the league in the two most important statistical categories for his position, and we're talking about Kobe being MVP?

I understand this kind of thing from Scoop Jackson, this is exactly his type of press. Black man in need of a champion because hes is largely perceived as selfish (see: off-season trade demands) and a total creep (see: original statement given to police after Colorado incident), but really this year there isn't a viable argument when taking in the accomplishments of the other players. I dunno if we "owe" Kobe an MVP, but if we do then I guess we'll be giving Lebron one in a year or two for his numbers this season.

Come back to me when you see the production that LA's bench has been giving this season. You don't need "name" players to be good.

Those two key big men never played a game together. Kobe has been without one of his big 3 for around 20 games. Odom was still there, and the bench was still there. On most nights they still had more talent than the teams they were facing.

    Kobe's MVP for sure.

At least he deserves it. He's been too good for too long not to win it. They'll probably finish 1st anyways.

    CP3 is an upstart. Kobe's a legend.

There is a case for KG. But Paul lost it the last week and a half. His team had a solid lead for the 1 seed, but his team dropped 3/4 and he shot 10 for 35 in those losses. He even had a shot to show up Kobe. Terrible finish with highest stakes that franchise has had in years.

Barring Houston winning 3 a taking the #1 seed, or LA losing to Sac, Kobe will get it. I think his overall case will be better than KG, just too much of individual statistical advantage.

Lakers got the 1 seed. Kobe WILL win the MVP. I'll put any amount of money on it with anyone who wants to do so. The guy who wrote that article just got owned.

i wouldnt count on it really kobe is still hated by a lot of the media voters even if they wont say it out openly. there is a case for kg and strong case for cp3 this year along with kobe. its not a 'lifetime acheievement' award of course. i wouldnt have no issue with kobe winning it but i go back to two years ago when he averaged like 35-36 points a game led a pretty crappy lakers team into the playoffs, dropped 81 that season and he got like 4-5 total votes that season. that is a total joke. he didnt get much last year either if i remember right.

i wouldnt be surprised if he won it this year, even though statistically he isnt as good as previous seasons, but dont be shocked if he doesnt. lakers fans will scream bloody murder of course

His team was 7th in the West that year, and Lebron had every bit as impressive stat line and carried a just as crappy team further. If anyone got jobbed that year, it was Lebron.

But this year Kobe's has it, bank on it. Though he should send a check to Chris Paul. Chris Paul's choke job over the last 10 days assured it going to Kobe.

But hopefully, like Dirk last year, the regular season MVP will go out most ungracefully. Actually with maybe the most dangerous 7/8 seeds in the history of NBA playoffs, both Kobe and Paul might find themselves out quick.

If NO wins tonite they will have the same record as the Fakers.

More importantly, if they win that will likely put the Mavpricks at seed #8 - where they can possibly upset koby and the Fakers in the 1st round :)

I slept like a baby last night, with a smile on my face, thinking about this thread.

    Congratulations Kobe.

Kobe can have his regular season MVP. As I said with the full season in, he had as good of case as any this year.

One thing for sure has been proven, there isn't a media/NBA conspircacy against him, and those claiming it look like idiots. The system of how MVPs are based was followed.

Now Kobe is still a narcissistic and arrogant prick who hasn’t lead his team to anything of meaning other than a spanking of a dysfunctional Nuggets team, but he does have a regular season MVP to go along with the 3 rings Shaq gave him.

You are nothing short of a moron! Shaq wins 0 rings without Kobe as well. If you even watched some of the 3peat playoffs you would have seen that Kobe carried quite a few games while the big craptus was on the bench because he couldnt shoot free throws oe was in foul trouble.

Neither could of won without the other, and to suggest otherwis... is idiotic. Your hatred is blatant and obvious.

I suppose if they get past the Jazz and Spurs/Hornets its cause gasol gave it to him. It's a team sport.... plain and simple.

If you think Shaq gave him the rings you need to put down the crack pipe. Saying Hakeem gave Kenny Smith 2 rings, OK I'm ok with that, but Kobe played just as much of a role as shaq did during those championship years and Kobe was the go to guy at the end of the games when it counted. Not Shaq, his free throws were a liability.

We know you hate Kobe Desert Scar, but you shouldn't let you hatred make you sound like an idiot from a basketball standpoint. We know you are smarter than that.

Kobe and D Wade won 4 rings for Shaq in my opinion.

Really? Is it a coincidence that Kobe and Wade hasn't even come close to a ring when Shaq left?

Uhhh... Shaq, fox, horry, fisher, etc all left.

When all is said and done...Kobe will have several more rings than shaq.

    get over it...
