I'm sure Mobley will have his share of good games. That doesn't mean this thread should get bumped, whenever it happens, so we can collectively clutch our pearls and have a new pity party.
Sengun is lighyears ahead of Mobley, Sengun has been the biggest surprise of the year for me. In order for regret to set in over not taking Mobley, Mobley will have to be the second coming of Hakeem..... I'm pretty confident that's not the case....
This is like his first good game since SL. No one can say Mobley will be dominant till he gains 40 pounds and doesnt get injured. There isnt a toothpick big man thats dominant in the NBA. Poku is miles ahead of Mobley in terms of skillset and even he gets pushed around in real games.
You're honestly telling me you can't see it? You've watched enough hoops. You should know. He'll put on weight. And the injury deal applies to every player. It was obvious before the draft.
Yeah - I can co-sign this. I do think Green is showing quite a bit of effort on defense, but I think he lacks strength and fundamentals but I can see him trying to contest even the plays which he probably has no shot at which is a sign that he takes it serious. I’ll take that at this stage. I think the off ball problem is actually the same as his PnR problem - he doesn’t know how to use a screen properly yet. I’m guessing he was such a good one on one player growing up that he never needed screens to set up his scoring and now he has to learn to do that quickly because that skills not only creates opportunities for himself, but more importantly causes the defense to help on him which opens the game up for others. The more “gravity” he has, the better for the rest of the players on the team with more specific skill sets.
Have you seen Joe Chee, DMo, Poku and Porzingis? Not everybody can put on weight successfully. Injury deal applies to every player but obv big men trying to put on weight are higher risk than other players. You've watched enough hoops, you should know. He doesnt have a big boned frame like Sengun. He a toothpick like Moses Brown, rookie Clint and Jarett Allen. We'll see.
I have nothing against Mobley and I think he has the potential to be a dominant player in his position, but I find the opinions and arguments based on highlights very funny. If fans of other teams were to watch highlights of Sengün they could claim that the Rockets have found a new hybrid of Divac and Karl Malone. Both Mobley and Sengün have a long way to go. Take it easy folks.
Harden is as strong as most centers. And EGo is as strong as an ox. What is your point? Not all bigs are strong but still successful - Durant, Dirk, Bosh, Porzingas, etc. Green, unlike Mobley, is unable to unlock his game unless he adds more strength. He gets pushed around as a defender and he is unable to finish in a crowd. Mobley is already a 2 way player and can play inside and out.
Waaaay too early to say anything definitive, but this has worst case scenario potential when you consider part of the argument for drafting Green was that he was more NBA ready and Mobley would take longer to reach his full potential. Green’s lack of strength has been much more of a hindrance to his game than Mobley’s so far. Green has yet to show that he can absorb contact and finish at the basket and Mobley has done so multiple times. Mobley obviously is going to get more rebounds and blocks, but he’s also out there making some really good passes and plays on the defensive end. Pretty much the only thing Green has done better so far is make more 3 pointers. Fingers crossed that Green’s mentality is what ends up pushing him to reach the heights that he has set for himself and live up to expectations that many have. He sees that he needs to get stronger and better. Now he needs to do the work to get there.
Yes I agree. People wee questioning Cavs on how they’d play Mobley and J.Allen together, I think it will work just fine. Allen gives you the physicality, Mobley gives you the skill… I like that combo quite a bit actually.
