That’d be my 3rd favorite option. I don’t want Cunningham as much as others. And most especially, I don’t want KPJ to be hamstrung by being an off-ball player.

    Thank you @J.R. !!!

The most succinct and accurate article on why Mobley should be the pick.

Not just based on advanced stats vs. eye test, but simple logic and philosophy.

    -‐‐----------------

    Who should the Rockets draft?

    Mobley

When drafting as high as Houston will, the team should always select the most talented player, and the player with the highest ceiling. Both are not mutually exclusive. In regards to Mobley and Green, both are incredibly talented players who have high ceilings. With Green, you get a dynamic scorer who could lead the NBA in scoring in the future. With Mobley, you get a defensive unicorn who is considered a 5 by position, but plays more like a super-sized wing. In an ever-changing NBA, where you integrate innovation one year but revert to old-school principles the next, it is important to have a player who allows you to play multiple schemes on both ends. Houston is a team that embraces positionless basketball, more than many other teams in the NBA. If you are a great player, which Mobley and Green will both be, you can play well with others. The tiebreaker is who can enhance their teammates and play off of them the best. Based on that criteria, Mobley is the pick.

Mobley is a foundational piece. A player who will need time to grow into his body and frame, but has the tools that a coaching staff can mold into whatever they desire. Houston is a patient situation for him. An organization that will allow his talent, development, and versatility to dictate their team-building philosophy moving forward.

    GEM OF THE DRAFT

It is unbelievable that one of the very best basketball content boards like CF just cannot comprehend this.

Mobley doesnt want to be here (or his Daddy doesnt want him here) Why select him so that he can be a malcontent, go half ass and ultimately lose him after his rookie contract?

    Chad Ford:

CM: Where does the intrigue start?

CF: At four. I think it’ll be Cade-Green-Mobley. Maybe Green-Mobley swap spots. They’ll be the top 3 picks. For Toronto, do you go Suggs or Barnes or Kuminga? There’s some great options there. Raptors are also in trade discussions. From 7-14, it’s wide open. … Market hasn’t been particularly hot for them (for 7/14/Wiseman). I’d say based off their behavior and how many guys they’re working out and bringing back for 2nd workouts, right now, under the assumption they’re keeping the picks.

CM: How difficult is the decision for Houston with Green/Mobley?

CF: Tons of factors go into the draft. One is you have owners in the room who are thinking how do we market the franchise, how do we get people excited again? Green is the sexiest prospect in this draft. He’ll be on SportsCenter highlights. Elite athlete. Electric player. He’ll probably drop 40 one night during his rookie season. Green is small for his position. Not a great defender. Not a playmaker. Scorer and everything else is TBD. Or do you take Mobley, a true unicorn at 7’? Block shots, rebound, handle the ball, good passer, can shoot the 3, soft touch inside. 10 years ago, no way Mobley isn’t the number one pick. Because of priority on wings and sexiness of a player like Green, maybe he slides to 3. Don’t see a huge gap between Cunningham and Mobley.

Mobley is my pick if we don't get Cade.

Mobley to me is winning basketball, even if he needs some time to develop (don't they all), but Green seems like the let's-sell-tickets Fertitta option.

Mobley needs to pull a Moxon and ground that helicopter hovering over his head.

Tjarks outdid himself here, excellent vid.

Heroic effort considering Tjarks is battling cancer.

Speedy recovery - best wishes to him and his family.

Knowing Tilman, Green is definitely our pick.

Mobley has the most "ifs" of any of the Top 4.

Lowest floor. Highest ceiling. I'm not as convinced as he is that he's bullet proof. Green and Cunningham are safer choices.

So, strap on the condom and take Green if Cunningham is unavailable?

    Take Mobley and go bareback.

This post just took an awful turn.

That pretty much seals it - Green it is.

Honestly, I don't know how we'll get around the supposed disinterest in the Rockets from the Mobley camp. Maybe Tilman has something up his sleeve...insert suggestion here
