Isn't it a little bizarre that nobody seems to know for sure why this kid refused to workout for us?

I never said he (Green) wouldn't get there either. Reread my post... what I said was it just will likely take longer for Green to get there based on what's playing out on the court right now vs Mobley and his comparisons

Nah you are the one who doesnt understand how NBA is played today unless you are playing in the on perimeter you need to put on weight. Mobley needs to get stronger? Yeah and he gets stronger by building muscles which means putting on weight.

Look at AD, Porzingis and Giannis. Who amonh these guys didnt gain weight? Porzingis is esp a good example cuz he was a lot more impactful than Mobley as a rookie and had a better perimeter game as well and he still needed to put on weight.

The NBA is getting smaller that means that guys like Mobley will become the center of their team like what happened to AD and Porzingis. You are the one who doesnt understand how the game is played today.

Green's production is on par with Ant last year.

In general guards develop faster than big men ut Mobley is a year older than Green.

Its hard to tell between the two who will be the superstar. James Harden's rookie year he averaged 9 pts on 40% FG not exactly an indication he'll be a future MVP.

Right but how did James Harden look on the court? Did he look like he belonged? Was he still able to break down defenses and did he have elite passing vision in the making? From watching video yes. Same with KD after his first game. His FG% might not have been the highest but you knew he'd be something in the NBA.

Mobley does play on the perimeter and you claim I don't know today's NBA.

None of this makes sense, Mobley is gonna naturally gain weight as all the others have done and that still does not negate the fact that nobody post up anymore outside Embid which is my entire point.

    So Mobley can't gain weight?

The fact that you admit the NBA is getting smaller proves my point.

It was always a risk what order was going to be ideal.

Mobley could have been a total flop, as can any of the top 5 or 6 guys.

Barnes who was the least mentioned, is doing probably the best of the bunch.

But we are assessing 19 year olds here. It can be a 180 improvement in a year or 2. As most superstars don’t hit their stride until they are 24-27 years old. And generally start to decline after 32 years old.

Green has some major talent. I think he is still trying to find the pace of the NBA. But the physical ability is there, but he’s got a lot of work to do to stay there.

Just a reminder. Linsanity lasted longer than 10 games. If you watched those games, the dude was damn impressive.

Not saying that Mobley or any of the guys in this draft will turn out to be like Lin. But there's a reason why you need to wait a little longer before making definitive judgment about the future of a young player.

No. This is Mobley's absolute floor....bottom.

Time, lbs/muscle, experience at a position where it takes awhile for guys to get there. (even though he plays everywhere)

Capable of guarding 1-5, and being the Captain of a shifting championship D.

Not only that, rest assured...the offense will eventually run through him too.

Just watch the Cavs play team basketball, and he's already the leader. They are winning.

Anyone who can't see it now is either blind, doesn't know hoops, or is lying to himself.

I think he's going to be--at the very least--a more athletic Pau Gasol. Pau was a damn good defender and anchored championship defenses so this isn't an insult by any means.

Think the Mobleys didn't want to get hurt. He should have come and worked out for us. Also didn't help both Rocket Social Media and JGreen started posting all them photos before draft night. Even if Rockets knew they were picking Green, they shouldn't have shown their hand publicly and deny themselves a proper evaluation.

Should be lessons learned for next draft.

I think there was an incident with KPJ and Mobley's dad.

Was leaning Mobley but seeing him to do well is no victory lap or gloating, coz Mobley is not on the Rockets. When checking out some of the Cavs games, I started to feel envy and regret. Like why the F didn't we pick him. I get NBA draft is hard; Stone's job is not easy. but I'd be lying if I'm not a little mad at Stone .

Mobely was not a 'long' term project, he was very much NBA ready by rookie standards. He was there for the taking.

What’s so confounding is that the Rockets are supposed to have an amazing analytics department, yet they pass on the guys with great college analytics (Mobley and Kawhi) for flashy scorers (Green and Marcus Morris). What’s up with that?

It's not about flashy scorers. College analytics aren't reliable predictors for NBA success. If they were, Morey would try to trade up in every draft and would not trade away so many picks.

pretty clear that patrick was behind the scenes pulling the strings with no regard of analytics. even during the le$ era.

Morris was very good in college. Not sure what advanced analytics said Kawhi was a better college player than morris. Kawhi really improved his game once he got into the NBA.
