    I respect that.

First time I saw it I didn't think much of it. But when the play is slowed down and stopped at peak
    height.....I was like, oh my!

Yeah that’s pretty insane. Hopefully that means that as he bulks up he can still retain elite athleticism, cuz right now it’s beyond elite.

Mobley is a nice player but he is getting points on lobs. We need a point guard like Cleveland, do you remember when harden was feeding Wood lobs for those easy points. Wood is a very good player. Right now, Wood is 5th in scoring for Center, 7th in rebounds and 4th in 3P%.....if he had a decent PG like Harden he would be elite. Green needs a elite PG next to him and Porter is not it. Porter has nice feet, handles and great agility for being 6'6 and his shooting 3s has improved, but he is not a PG. The best PG for us now is Wall and he needs to play NOW. Also, Christopher needs to be our backup PG, Augustine needs to be cut. Silas needs to stop being nice and tell Porter play SF or else, give Augustine the pink slip and make John Wall play....

By the way, Lakers has one of the worst defense in the NBA. Carmello and Westbrook do not play defense.....Green will look good against Lakers, now that Porter is hurt.

If you DID take Mobley at #2 ... wouldn't that alter how you fill out the roster thru the rest of the draft & FA?

KPJ could be the starting SG
    Wall could start at PG
Maybe you take Butler or Shariffe later instead of Garuba ...

Those 3 could deliver any type of 'big man service' that Rubio/Garland/Sexton provide to him on Cavs

I don't understand this new 'Cavs have such an amazing system/backcourt/coaching' logic as to why Mobley has looked so good early on

I can see how the lobs are dependant on good G play
But he has instantly become their best individual and team defender ... he's helping his new teammates out on that end at least as much as they help him on OFF

That whole organization has been irrelevant the entire 3+ decades I've been following the NBA except when LBJ was there

Since he last left, they have again been total garbage
Seems like if they are about to become relevant again, it is OBVIOUSLY due to Mobley's arrival more than anything else

And this is why I really wanted Mobley. I feel like teams will be looking for him in every draft. It's one thing to draft a big that can potential space the floor...see guys like Wiseman...but another for a big that can defend the perimeter AND potentially space the floor.

So now everyone is so sure that Chet or Paolo will be worth passing on Mobley? Should we even get the chance to draft them, people should remember that the draft lotto is more of a risk now. We could very well be drafting 5th and miss out on both.

There is also the chance that neither Chet or Paolo will be the prospect that Mobley is. Every once in a while you get a rare gem of a prospect that comes through the draft and you pass on it at your own risk.

Chet can go as a skeleton for Halloween without putting on anything and Paolo is being overhyped by fans and not scouts.

Comparisons for Paolo are Wendell Carter, Carlos Boozer, Jabari Parker...Basically, an all around forward type that isn't athletic enough to be a great prospect. Of course scouts can be wrong, but I do not think either Chet or Paolo are generational prospects to wait on for years.

For the record, should we have the #1 pick, I favor Chet because again...he's the more unique prospect. 7 footer whose strength is shooting...and you just hope he gains SOME weight and isn't breaking down by his 5th year, but still, he's a 7 footer with wing skills. Chet's only knock, like Mobley, is his weight. But honestly the kid is so skinny it's hard to imagine him bulking up.

he shows more of what he’s capable of little by little each game

    8-10 from 3 1 game…9 free throw attempts in another…the athleticism…demonstrates some passing

Now can he put it all together?

Exactly.. now everyone is clamoring for Chet and Paolo.. but why though?? Does anyone foresee either of them leading the NCAA in box plus/minus? Are either of them even going to be the best player in the NCAA? Maybe, maybe not?We had a chance to actually draft the guy that did.. but we didn’t.

Most likely we will not have the top 3 picks in the draft next year even if we go 1-81. People would rather dream about the opportunities that we won’t have rather than taking advantage of the opportunity we were given.

Mobley is clearly better than Green now.

but my point is it’s not because Mobley is making guarded post up shots. He’s wide open getting dunks.

now Green is a SG so he’s wide open in some 3s and just misses. He’s a super inconsistent shooter and that needs to improve obviously.

but I am saying Green, KPJ, Wood, etc, etc, etc need easier shots. Every possession is a struggle for them.

I will look up stats later to see what they say wrt number of shots and shooting percentage by distance and amount guarded.

I agree with your bolder part….

except I’m not saying it’s amazing… just it isnt crap.

I mean this isnt that complicated a comparison because the Rockets have Wood. Who unquestionably is a better offensive player than Mobley or any of he Cavs bigs right now. How many open dunks you see Wood getting? The best passes he gets are from Alpi in the brief time they play together.

Mobley got at least 5 wide open dunk attempts off passes from guards last night.

Why is everyone talking about how many points Mobley scoring and whether they are easy or hard? Like who even cares, the reason he’s good is bc he can defend every position, and he’s doing that at historic levels for his age.

Greens the one that was chosen because of his offense not Mobley. lol

the Cavs don’t have CP3 or in-shape Harden out there running point, but let’s not act like their guard play isn’t still significantly better than ours

Rubio is a high BBIQ vet who knows how to run an offense…he’s a career 8 assists, just 3 turnovers guy, and he’s averaging 7 assists this year

Garland is averaging 9 apg so far this season

meanwhile, we have KPJr who is the worst starting PG in the NBA…dude is literally averaging 5.2 assists and 5.2 turnovers a game, and that measly little 5.2 assists a game doubles the next closest which is Jalen Green and Tate averaging just 2.6 apg each

Cavs didn’t even bother with trying to make KPJr a PG. They had him at SF. Perhaps they were on to something. And who is the other PG on the roster? DJ freaking Augustin

I mean, c’mon…the difference in guard play and playmaking between the 2 teams is not even close

the Cavs are 12th in passes made per game

Guess where Silas and his offense ranks? 28th

I posted earlier the major difference in efficiency seen when Jalen Green is spotting up and has stuff created for him as opposed to trying to create everything for himself, especially with how weak he currently is physically, and that difference was apparent in the G-League as well as to start this year

despite all the bricks, he is 39% on catch and shoot threes to start the year

in the G-League, when his percentage of assisted buckets decreased, his efficiency plummeted

This. Situation matters a lot and while the Cavs aren’t a great or yet elite team, they’re starting lineup is still miles ahead of ours. People forget that the Cavs had a good winning percentage early on last year until they started to tank.

Mobley has been good but his situation is better.

btw I saw a stat of opponent FG% when guarded by rookies and Garuba was the leader of that list with a whopping 30%.
Green had 40% and Mobley had 41%.

It was off Twitter so take that with a grain of salt but it sure raised an eyebrow considering how „terrible“ Green is defensively according to multiple sauces in the GARM.

Scottie Barnes looks like the best prospect, he is guarding everyone and even running the offense a bit.

Mobley, Barnes, Sengun and Giddy just have the feel and instincts of a more veteran player. Green still has the tunnel vision and doesn’t know what he can and can’t do.

Mobley and Barnes were drafted into great situations.

Rockets offense is the 1 offense in the NBA that most closely resembles Summer League/G-League random pickup ball, but unlike Summer League and G-League, there aren’t a bunch of scrubs and guys playing no D as the opposition

Mobley’s defense has been just as advertised, even better arguably. However he is playing free safety out there while Jarret Allen play rim protector and boxes out. Mobley is being put in a great position defensively to where his lack of strength is minimized and his perimeter instincts are maximized.

I’m not saying it should have been Mobley, as I think Barnes is more complete player with his playmaking.

However it’s still early but can’t deny Mobley looks like he will be great.

You mean that Mobley is actually out of position playing D and still killing it? 7fters hate having to be asked to guard every other position?

If he was doing poorly Mobley fans would be saying but look he’s having to defend 1-4 while Jarrett Allen just sits in the paint. Instead he’s showing he can guard every position and score on top of that.

Actually I thought he was an oversized wing and argued so pre draft. I am saying that putting Mobley next to a great interior defender and rebounder helps Mobley more so than putting him next to a weak defender and rebounder. Is that not obvious?
