Artest just isnt good close the basket. His size is good when he's 8 feet away and gets a head of steam off his plodding dribbling and runs into people in the paint, forcing the action as he usually does. Brute playmaking. But if its him on a post-up and you expect him to be "money" after dumping it in, he's not dynamic enough to create a clean oppurtunity. As average to mediocre as Bonzi Wells was, I'd trust him to manufactor a shot from close more than Artest.
Ron is really struggling offensively in the playoffs. In order to Rockets to win something Ron needs to step up offensively and not just Ron but Brooks, Battier and Landry who are all trying to find a rhythm. The only thing Ron does good is shoot threes when he's open. Other than that he really underachieves on the offense.
That's what i'm doubting as well. Since Yao is fronted and hard to get the ball, Ron, as well as Scola, shoule post up more to attack the basket.
Now Bonzi Wells was a SF that had a decent post-game unlike Ron. I am surprised he is out of the league and had to go to China for a job, thought he still had game to play in the NBA or Euroleague but to go to China??
48% is not good from ONE FOOT....I am talking about at the rim....not 48% overall. Ron hasn't sniffed that...ever...and is shooting 37% in the playoffs......which SUCKS for any starting player. But thank you for playing. DD
The thread should say "Why aren't we using Scola in the post more often?" Dude is money from the post, when ever he posts up his defender you just know he is going to do something special. LA is not a great defender, Scola, the MVP of the damn Euro league has enough skill to dominate LA, but what the hell! Lets throw up jumpers instead. GRR Rockets piss me off sometimes, insideout its not that damn hard, if they are sandwiching Yao with 2 bigmen give the ball to damn Scola!
YES YES YES !!! Scola should be in the post....as I have been saying...INVERT the offense. Move Yao to the high post. DD
And s p r e a d the floor; please s p r e a d the floor. Is there a no slash and dish rule in the p/o's?
Actually Roy did guard Ron one on one quite a bit in game 4 and essentially shut down Ron from getting the ball anywhere close to the post. I was pretty frustrated over it, and couldn't figure out why he couldn't hold Roy off of him. They tried sveral times and it wasn't working.
Ye thanks for the input mate. You really prove how well you know the series. Roy is almost always playing on Artest. If it isnt him it's Outlaw, and to be honest, i wouldnt mind getting him in foul trouble either... But back to your comment. Roy IS guarding Artest. Has been for most of the series and Mcmillian wouldnt switch him UNLESS he gets into foul trouble. That is a good thing in itself. Just getting him into a bit of foul trouble and forcing him to think twice on both ends of the court i helpful. But ye. In DD's words... Thanks for playing. Rook.
I dunno why he's gone away from the post game, and "developed" his jumper. Offense at the top of the key is NOT his game. But then again, I think Artest has gone away from his post game, because Yao is in there clogging it up. In Sacramento, there was never a post player (Brad Miller for the LONG 2!!) so Artest was better in the post.
Really now? Well... Im pretty sure Artest played 40mins last game and Batum played all of 6. Doesnt quite add up... but ye, "thanks for playing."
if you put scola at low post you will never get the ball into the basket. all they have to do is start double teaming him then who is there to shoot yao can make 2-10 maybe from up above the free throw line but his shot is to slow. Scola fits the high post profile with his ability to drive or shoot. IF you put artest on the post he can atleast try and get some people into foul trouble like roy. maybe even a line up as yao, scola, artest, battier, brent berry now you have three guys that can shoot the ball and a 7 6 guy who can rebound.
