I could understand if it were called the Latin Music Awards. We've got the Country Music Awards, BET awards, Source Awards, American Music Awards, etc. I just don't understand why Latin Music gets it's own Grammy show. There are no other ethnic-related Grammys that i am aware of. I thought the regular Grammys covered all music. Can someone shed some light on this?
so they have another show to broadcast, sell advertising for and make money off of... everything is about money
Didn't they invent this show for Ricky Martin? They need to just get rid of it. I don't need to see Christina Agularia and Jennifer Lopez getting awards for their "latin" music.
Yeah......Latins = Arts and music...there's some rich guy who wants to start a Latin Grammys so he did it. And there are like 29 million latinos in the U.S. now.....not counting all the illegal ones. It's quite funny... Good to watch...especially when you are taking Spanish class in school.
The Latin music industry is actually the second largest behind the US. In fact, by some reports, South America has a larger music industry by total volume than the we do. As a result, the US industry wants to tap into that market and become part of that industry so they can profit by Luis Miguel and Ruben Blades as well as sell Spanish-language versions of J-Lo, Christina and Ricky Martin CD's. It also makes creating crossover success (Mark Anthony) easier. Unlike Europe and a lot of other countries where artists' real desire is to make it in the states, many Latin artists are content to sell huge numbers of records in Latin America, particularly if they think anglo markets don't respect their music. This has been the RIAA's attempt to create inroads into that market and to stimulate sales among American buyers. It's worked.
Another fine example of a baiting err content rich post from the extremist elements on this board. Nicely done.
