Don't forget, Yao also worked better under JVG than under Rick. Both of our main guys don't respond that well to Rick.
You're funny. What do you want, Adelman furious for the gallery? He surely is a little worried, but he has a lot of experience, and experience gives you calm and confidence in this situations. This is nothing new for him. Son let him work, and stop treating an NBA coach with 30 years of experience like a silly.
I'm sorry but this a little ridiculous. When you have a superstar player, he is not supposed to be a leader of the team? Are you not supposed to have one of your many veterans take control of the locker room? Is that said leader of the team not supposed to play with an all-out mindset, with focus and determination and call out other players if they are doing so? Even if that leader is hurt and not physically able to perform is he not still suppose to bring that mental aspect? These are professional basketball players. If they want a championship, they should play like it and start leading the team. You cannot replace a player on the team stepping up as a leader on the floor, of being a "coach out there" like commentators and coaches call them. Teammates will more likely to follow him and do it if a your star or fellow teammate takes that role, not so much if it is the coach, especially in a professional sport league. Now you if you want to get on Adelman for bad rotations, not helping start/stop moment in games, or not figuring out an offense that the players will actually play, go ahead. But firing him because he is not a leader and not making the players leaders is stupid. If the players are not filling that void of leadership and espousing that mindset, then this team was never going to win a championship.
I'm fine with coldness of Rick Adelman, he doesn't irritate no one and is cold as ice. That's good sometimes but when your best player scores 4 points against Craptors and walks away with a smile then it's bad.
I understand this point of view perfectly. Coach 'A' is not an inspitational coach.I believe he is asking too much from his players, some just can't play like the old Sacramento!
Just because Adelman doesn't scream on the sideline doesn't mean he doesn't care. Doesn't mean he doesn't say things privately. Things worked out fine except for Yao injury toward the end of last season. May be similar this year. Van Gundy's sideline persona also much different than how he was otherwise according to most reports (and as revealed by his current commentary work). Never yelled at TMac. Handled different guys differently. Very political animal. Very careful not to alienate guys he needs. Only guys he truly alienated were useless. Downfall: ego got in the way with relationship with Les Alexander.
