Morey no longer cares about Rafer's contract. We aren't looking to dump salary we are looking to win games. It was an issue during the off season only because they were looking to trade Rafer. That is no longer the case anymore. A team would have to make a pretty solid offer to get him at this point and even then I doubt we'd do it (obviously if the offer is ridiculous then ok but you understand what I'm saying). It's simply not worth it. Rafer is a perfect fit in Adelman's system , Adelman loves him and we aren't week at any position. For those who hate Rafer, sorry but get used to watching him. To those who dislike James, get used to watching him play as well. As much as I love Steve, he better start outplaying Luther or what you saw last night will not be an aberration

You don't think Adelman is giving everyone a fair chance? Not to be rude (I'm a big Steve guy, I'm happy he is finally happy) but he got outplayed by Skip, James and Head. There's only so many minutes.

it'll be hard for francis to outplay luther because they are two different players. luther is one of our best cutters and is probably our best catch and shooter. he also moves without the ball much better than francis.

Rafer is perhaps the last saving grace for JVG. If Rafer keeps it up, I'll have no problem giving credit to Gundy.

Which is exactly what Adelman's offense revolves around.

Huh? If Rafer excels this season the credit goes to Adelman, our team, and Morey for not jumping to conclusions before he got the facts. JVG is gone, he has nothing to do with this team's success

Let the season and our team develop and then make your judgement. I'll tell you this, right now, it's either Rafer or James finishing games (unless head is on fire). Francis is not in the equation until he proves himself ready to be. Trust me, I really hope he does. The more depth we have, the better.

As much as I love to bash JVG, you've got to credit him for sticking up for Rafer the last two seasons. Rafer's excellence, if you will, is not born out of blue.

i credit Rafer's performance with Rafer himself. he was bashed all last season and was written off by EVERYONE during the summer. he goes to training camp and outperforms all the guards, wins the starting job, and plays excellent in the first game. it's like he has no conscience :D

Rafer has been pretty much the same player for 4 or 5 years now. It's just a matter of the system. He was great in Miami, average at best in Toronto and was not suited for JVG's system (making him the third scorer is something Rafer himself would tell you he wasn't).

Not everyone. :D (also there are plenty of posters on this board who took up for him). Again though, no need to revist the past. It is what it is. You saw our team in the first half when we were just killing the Hornets. That's all anyone needs to care about. Or let me rephrase that, it's all we as fans should care about. No point into getting back into bashing our players. For what? Let's look forward to a great season

Debatable. Stat wise you mean? he had a lot of trouble in Toronto and I wouldn't call what he did here better then Miami. If you ever run into him ask him. He's a really nice guy and will be happy to talk to a fan. He'll tell you he loves it here (he would love to finish his career here) but so far his best season was in Miami all things considered

I wish Clutchfans was only for people 18 and older....that way the rest of us don't have to suffer through threads like this.

(except for the occasional Drunken Thread....but those are just plain funny)
