Oh, I am surprised to see so many bandwagoners in this board. When I said Rafer is the best PG a month ago people thought I was insane.
Rafer's gonna be great in Adelman's system. As you can see from last night's game, he spent the offseason practicing his cuts.
May the power of the force be with you Clutch. Some people don't think before they "speak" I wouldn't say everyone's jumping on the Rafer bandwagon, I would say they were with holding judgment until we see what each of them can do. As long as Rafer doesn't have to shoot 17 times a game, I like what he does running the offense.
Rafer has stunk it up too many times when it counted??? I think you are referring to Steve Francis. Steve definitely gives it all he has, but he has one of the worst BBall IQ's I have ever seen. I'm really pulling for the guy but I'm just not expecting too much. For the other guy that was saying...how hard is it to bring the ball down and give it to Tracy and Yao? Watch Francis as the starting point guard and you will see. I would like to see Mike James start with Bonzi, Steve, and Rafer coming off the bench. Here is my ideal rotation with minutes played once the season begins... Yao 35 Scola 30 Battier 30 McGrady 35 James 30 Hayes 20 Wells 20 Francis 20 (If he can't adapt, then Head 20) Alston 20 Thoughts?
Before the season started I would have voted to get rid of Rafer, but in this new system and not having to depend on Rafer to play 35+ minutes a night he's a great fit. Rafer's Assist to Turnover ratio is too good to let him go for pretty much nothing in return.
I would say so. Anytime someone one poster tells another to kill themselves and another compares something to the Holocaust you're in for a long year. Wow.
You obviously did not watch last nights game. This is a new season with a new coach and new players. the Rockets look better with Rafer right now than without. I can see Rafer splitting time with Mike J and Stevie playing more of the two.
Agreed Also, Rafer can be traded, I have no problem with that. We better be getting a quality player for him though, PG is the second hardest position to fill next to center and Rafer has value. IMO that is why he is still here. Morey and Adelman both know his value and are not going to trade him for scrub players.
The inteligent posters didn't think you were insane they just didn't want to waste time posting arguments with people who don't deal in facts. They wait for the games to be played and then they post based on reality. Last Nights reality. Rafer looked good and the offense flowed well. James looked pretty good and played great defense. Stevie looked lost and turned the ball over. Those are facts. The best part about those facts is that the pay scales for those players scale with the quality of their play atm.
I agree. Since he won't have to be the third scorer, and just focus on creating. I think he turn back into a guy we all want on our team.
Im a Rafer fanboy now? Because I said he fit the offense really well last night? Ive been all for moving him for two seasons now. But I credit the guy with a good game and now Im a fanboy...interesting.
The only case which the Trade Rafer camp has is his horrible shooting percentage, and completely disregarding his ability to handle the ball (high AST-TO ratio), good 3 point shooting (35%+), endurance (going 35-40min a game last season with no injuries), and his low cost. He also showed up to camp in shape and ready to play. With the new additions to our roster, Rafer will be no higher than the 4th scoring option on the court at any given time. As much as I dreaded Rafer last season every time he bricks a floater or blows a layup, I think he has a good chance to make this team.
which team doesn't need a good "scoring" pg like Mike Bibby or Tony Parker? maybe not Phoenix, New Jersey, Utah or New Orleans
