Why is Rafer still on this team?

    I don't like Rafer as a player. His only real quality is that he's a good ball handler and a decent backup at the point. The problem with him on the court is that he's not a real threat so his defender can afford to cheat off of him to double someone else, you couldn't do that with MJ or Steve Francis.
    To be honest I don't think the team was ever planning on getting rid of him at the end of last season. I think they traded for MJ and drafted a pg to shore up the pg spot for this season and the future since Rafer was the only real point guard we've had, Morey never expected Steve Francis to sign with the team until he did.

    I really don't know if they will trade Rafer because they signed Steve to a similar deal they gave Bonzi and who knows if he will stay or not. If the team knew Steve was staying to finish his career in Houston I think they would have traded Rafer by now. I think coach is smart to run Francis and MJ at the 2 guard, it still gives us a glut of guards, but there are more options over all.
