Lets not get hating Alston Yet. Who knows he might be able to play good like he did in the latter part of the season last year. Even during the 22 wins run, he did play some pretty good basketball.

I say give him some time

Check out durvasa's +/- post. It suggests that Rafer is the worst player on our team that has played more than 2 seasons. Even Luther has a better +/-.

I don't know ... I'm curious how much they weighted the 07/08 season compared to others (they looked at 5 seasons worth of info). I'm kind of surprised Rafer's adjusted +/- isn't better, because his raw +/-, both on offense and defense, has been very strong the last couple years.

i am a part of the minority that likes what rafer brings to this team. sure, he doesn't shoot very well, but if he wouldn't shoot at all then it would really be no reason for other teams to defend him... and i also like that he doesn't get discouraged after a couple of misses and keeps believing he can make them. and usually he does.

    yeah, i know, i'm rafer's b****. :)

LOL cute. Now you're using stats you obviously can't interpret to tell us how Head is better than Alston.

What did I misinterpret in that set of statistics?

    Code:
    [B]player Off Def Total[/B]
    Yao Ming +0.21 +4.56 +4.77
    Tracy McGrady +4.89 -2.05 +2.85
    Ron Artest +1.79 +4.52 +6.31
    Rafer Alston -0.51 -0.46 -0.97
    Shane Battier +0.87 +1.83 +2.69
    Chuck Hayes -4.22 +9.76 +5.55
    Luther Head -0.37 +0.60 +0.23
    Brent Barry +2.11 -2.53 -0.41

Who has the worst Total +/- in that list? Who is the only player with negative values on both offense and defense?

Whether those stats are meaningful or not is a different question.

According to that, Rafer ranked higher than Rondo, Fisher, and Hinrich.

People just need to lay off a bit. We're 3 games in and the Rafer hate threads are already starting. Give the guy a break. He runs our offense well and that's all we need from him at this point.

I'd love to hear Adelman's and Morey's candid opinions of Rafer. Coaches and GMs can't say what they really think publicly for a number of reasons.

Hahah more ridiculous spin. Now it's "JVG, Adelman, and Morey only praise Rafer because it's mean to say bad things about him and we don't want to ruin his trade stock." Funny, I remember Stan Van Gundy saying not too nice things about Dwight Howard last year.

Once again, do you think Head is better than Alston? Because that's what you suggested with your last post.

No, Fisher and Hinrich had better overall Adj +/- or were ranked higher than Alston.

Actually, no I don't. I truly think that Head is one of the worst players in the league. Rafer is down there, too, but slightly ahead of Luther.

I only restated the statistics from another thread and said "according to those stats," even Head is better than Rafer.

I understand your opinion and respect it and I may be completely wrong about Alston. I'm just a dumb fan posting my opinions on the internets.

I stand corrected. Though he is significantly higher than Rondo overall.

Stevie always has a chance. His rehabs need to hurry up though...

What is Rafer doing that was anywhere close to last season? Assist-Turnover ratio?

Seriously, he seems to blow a lot more fast break layups this season.
