I don't normally post here but this is really ridiculous. How the heck can a Republican accuse Obama of wagging the dog when he is supporting a policy which they championed for 8 years, possibly even longer?
I don't see how your correction adds anything. There were thousands of US troops in Afghanistan on Jan. 19, 2009. The immediate troop increase when Obama took office was already in the works prior to Obama coming in. The troop increase this past summer is one that his Admin is solely responsible for. The Obama Admin has taken over responsibility for it and agree with the previous Admin about the need to stay with it but I don't think this is "his war".
considering scratching something out does not imply that thing is false means you either suck at reading or don't know what lie means.
Yes it is his war. The other war is the one he called stupid. This one is all on him now. The other admin probably planned a ton of stuff, how much of it has Obama done? Probably very little.
Mildly off topic. Has anyone see the over the top dark comedy by John Cusack, the movie "War Inc." I saved it on TIVO a few months ago and just watched it this weekend. It is a hoot. It will be or should be a political classic.
I personally was glad to see the "Commander and Chief" address the troops. I may not agree with his politics but I applaud him any time he makes time for our soldiers!!!
I think glynch was talking about the 12 holes of golf Obama played... He started the 'back nine' before realizing it was just the result of a previous Taliban mortar attack. That's how bad the front nine was -- one big sand trap really.
I sledom agree with Casey, but I thought that was cute and to the point. We have no damn resolve to reform Afghanistan. It is some wierd morass caused by the break down of sensible politics in Congress caused by defense contractors addicted to perpetual war and conservative media that will jump on anybody who is not strong on war or "defense" as it is called.
It could just be about oil and gas. Hopefully not. I still think it is because Obama has to show the militarists that he is "tough". In another words he isn't tough enough to tell them "no". Who knows? Maybe he really believes in the White Man's Burden to civilize the natives. At least we know, that unlike Dubya, he isn't doing it just to prove to his dad he isn't really a ****up.
