Im not a jermey lin fan, but if you want to group me cause of a article i posted that found funny , and old post from 4-5 years ago when rockets needed a back up point guard than whatever. I dont hate on Lin just cause the portland series. Jeremy a good kid, you people need to get off that cult **** around here. As far as Lin goes now, he got signed by the Warriors, and really not nba ready anymore. His career is done like yao.
Ben Simmons is a athletic Chuck Hayes. No To put it into context, we're not getting a superstar back regardless. But if we get 2 nice young pieces, with multiple picks, we're maximizing the situation. I like the Miami deal, would also like Brandon Ingram. But trading Harden for the Simmons, the athletic Chuck Hayes of today's nba, is stupid
i believe miami is a candidate because harden would re sign there. the list is short for harden and miami is one of them this is assuming butler, spoelstra, riley put up with harden if he goes baby mode nd dont trade him as well
So did we with Harden.... .and the year before that...... and the year before that...... Wait.... did we EVER win with Harden!?!?! Have you considered Simmons, Butler, Harris, and Embiid is a bunch of talent that doesn't fit well together because none of those guys are actually good shooters? More so than trading for a package headlined by Tyler Had A Great Rookie Playoffs Herro, in fact its not even close comparing those two things.
Chuck Hayes never sniffed +30% assist rate or averaged that.... that's Harden level playmaking. The fact that is your comparison tells me you are very ignorant about Simmons. Getting two nice young pieces and no top picks isn't maximizing the situation, its getting fleeced.
that's why you wait until the trade deadline to see what Herro can do. I think he has all-star potential and his fit with Wood would make us 1 all-star short (in the future) from becoming a great team again.
This is a two-edged sword. If he proves to have that kind of talent, then his price will go up. You won't get as much of a haul as you can now. But of course, if he turns out to be a flop, then you don't really want him. Trading for him now is betting on his potential while the price is still relatively low. With Simmons, you know what you get. A rare talent with a huge hole that doesn't look likely to be fixed. It's another kind of gamble. You bet on him to be your franchise player but you don't really know that kind of player can lead you to a championship.
What if we trade James Harden for Player X who averaged 17 pts his freshman year, 10 points his rookie year, and 14 points over his first 3 seasons? If you turn that down you just said no to the James Harden we traded for in 2012. There are no absolutes in forecasting players, but if you're wondering why the Rockets would consider this deal, well it's because their professional scouts and analysts who have a way more educated guess than us on the long term potential of Herro see him as very valuable. Also, we might be able to get Precious Achiuwa too. And btw, Ben Simmons has had the same numbers for 3 seasons. He has started every game since his rookie season. He's not getting any better, he's reached his ceiling unless he suddenly learns how to shoot a jumper which he hasn't done in 4 off seasons. The Miami deal is probably dead because of the logistics involved in getting it done since they would have to take Iggy and Olynyk to make the deal work money wise.
You are really underestimating his value by calling him “Athletic Chuck Hayes”. He brings a lot more to the table and has a better basketball mind and creativity. Unfortunately that’s these two deals are the deals we have so far. Haven’t seen anything else reported even though reports said they are looking for 3rd team and expanding partners etc. call me crazy but I think harden can lead Portland to the finals. I say it again. A change of scenery would be great for both guys.
He's a athletic Chuck Hayes, but with more skill. But the principles still apply. You're trading Harden for a player with horrendously limited abilities to score
It's simple. He brings more to the table, EXCEPT for shooting the damn ball. Thats fine, up until you mention trading him for your superstar player. Ben Simmons value will drop once we figure out he's never gonna shoot, then we'll be stuck with unmovable asset
Imagine wanting Tyler Herro over a 6’11 Athletic efficient scoring machine with an exceptional feel for the game.
Or because more suitors drives up the price. We really have no idea how serious we consider a Herro led package. We really don't know how the Rockets view Herro and we know there are "logistical" issues.
Chuck Hayes was only 6'6. If he was 6'10 and athletic he woulda been a star. Scoring is important but its not like Herro is a scoring machine. Herro is effective mostly as an off the ball scorer feeding off Butler. Dude only average 13 pts even less than "cant score" Simmons. Sure he has had some scoring outbursts but thats not consistent thats why his ave is too low. Simmons does everything except scoring. Scorers are a dime a dozen in the NBA hell our own Ben Mclemore shot 3s much better than Herro. As presently constructed we got Wood, Cousins, Wall and EG all of whom would like to chuck the ball. At least with Simmons you know youd get that rebounding, defense and playmaking even if he gets little touches. With Herro you get that 13 pts on 38% 3 pt shooting and little else if he aint getting the ball.
Does everything but score? So basically we're getting a liability in the half court offense. You wanna trade the best offensive weapon in NBA history for a guy who can't even score? Does that seem fair? He's a spacing killer on team that relies on spacing. If you're gonna trade Harden, let it be for a group of young guys that'll COMPLIMENT the team and our style of play. Simmons is not a guy that fits our system
we getting rid of our scorer/playmaker for hyped spotup shooter it looks like vs a playermaker who can't shoot. Wait for trade deadline cause both options sucks. U get rid of harden, u r gonna need another point guard. Can't rely on eric and wall. Wall is gonna get load management.
