First off Melo needs to start. He will give us more of a scoring punch starting. James and Chris need to do a better job of getting Melo going. Pick and pop plays should do the trick since we need that midrange game to be there on the low-key. Ennis doesn't look good out there with starters. He is just running around while everyone else is cruising. I believe Ennis would be better with the second group because they play a little bit faster.

He's going through an identity crisis. It is historically rare for a volume scorer to gracefully transition into a role player. There has to be chaos. I'm still willing to wait on him.

Melo is not the difference between us being an elite team or not. People are looking for a scapegoat, and Melo is a convenient one. He's just not that relevant to our success, not yet at least, and if it goes poorly maybe never. He is only meant to be a neutralizer in 1 or 2 games in the postseason while going against Draymond or Durant - i.e. reducing the gap between points scored and points conceded against one of those 2 guys. That's still in play AFAIC.

We should be playing better even if it was Anderson replacing Melo. It looks to me as though the staff did not prepare the team for the season adequately. If you were expecting a significantly better start for Melo, then point the finger at your expectations. The fact that he's in better shape, has accepted a bench role, signed for the minimum and is vaguely aware that mid range jumpers are not desirable on this team is acceptable progress for me.

I totally agree with this. Melo is pretty much the Ryno replacement. We did fine without him last season.

But the question is not whether WE agree but whether HE agrees. A lot of us is concerned that if he doesn't fit well, he may become a malcontent and a distraction. He does have that star power and the personality to create huge distraction. That's the different between him and Ryan Anderson.

Our window is closing. We don't have a season to waste.

I don't see why giving Carmelo more than 2 games in the rotation is a crazy strategory.

We know what Green is and gives us at this point. Need to see if it works with Carmelo, if doesn't fine, sit him and buyout or whatever.

    Why is it headscratching af?

melo is one of the greatest midrange threats of his generation. Why are you not all over this?

This is so true. harden and Gordon barely even looks Melo way when they have the ball. The team made a more conscious effort to get Melo involved in the offense during the off-season, which in return will get him More involved on defense, but no player, especially one like Carmelo is going to stay Engaged when u run up and down the court, never touch the ball and just watch Harden dribble out the shot clock.

Melo should get at least 7 iso opportunities a game. Everything else should come within the flow of the offense, but you have to give a guy that started over 1000 games to find some rhythm when now forced to come off the bench.

His defense is very questionable, and I don’t think MDA wanted to put melo back in over green last night, but you have to manage egos, and Melo is probably our best rebounder outside of Capela.(We’ve been getting murdered on the offensive glass)

All in all, I think Melo should start, but really should only be playing when CP3 is also in the game, the Chemistry between Harden and Melo is just not there...But I still believe Melo can help this team.

That would be christopher paul. I would rather have a good 3 pt shooter over a good midrange shooter. But if I could, I'd rather have a good 3pt shooter with the ability to knock the midrange down when the defense adjusts over both.

The NBA tracks the time on the shot clock when a player shoots.

Here's the breakdown of the time remaining on the shot clock for Anthony's shots this year:

    0 - 4 seconds on clock - 2 shots (1/2)

    4 - 7 seconds on clock - 2 shots (0/2)

    7-15 seconds on clock - 10 shots (2/10)

    15 - 18 seconds on clock - 9 shots (4/9)

    18 - 22 4 seconds on the clock - 4 shots (2/4)

    22 - 24 seconds on clock - 1 shot (0/1)

Over the first 3 games, he's only shot the ball late in the shot clock 4 times. The great majority of his shots have come with 7 to 18 seconds remaining on the clock.

One of his biggest issues is that he's shot poorly on wide open 3s. The NBA defines that as a 3 with no defender closer than 6 feet from the shooter. On those shots, he's 1-8 so far this season. You'd have to expect that percentage to improve.

The Pelicans Bigs are too skilled for us to have won that game with MDA employing our switch everything scheme. Ariza or Not, we wouldn’t have won that game.. it’s totally different when switching harden or Gordon on Javel McGee vs them on Anthony Davis...BBQ chicken everytime

anything can happen, but we already lost to Clippers and Pelicans numerous times last year when Ariza was playing...when we had that allegedly 'better' team.... we also lost 5 games in a row when ariza was playing last year
