I rather keep Bregman and have the poo poo platter at first rather than overpay for a toxic waste site like Abreu again (oh we are still paying him)
He put up 450+ pa of middle-of-the-order quality hitting in 2023 (better than Altuve, Diaz, and Bregman have been this season) and he was a well above average hitter in 2022 over more than 400 pa. His contact quality fell apart this season but there’s plenty of reason to believe he can get back to his 2022-2023 form which makes him a quality 5/6 hole hitter. I’m not a big fan of McCormick but he has value.
I think Espada's biggest weakness is his bullpen usage... using your long-reliever in Seth for 2 pitches for one out then having to parade a bunch of arms to follow... overuse of Bryan Abreu... going for the overkill win in Abreu-Pressly-Hader when the team still needs one fresh arm the next day... Hader's 4-run lead appearances... loving Ferguson just as much as Hinch loved Tony Sipp... at least, we don't see the ridiculousness of a Robel Garcia/Nico Goodrum types batting the first two slots in the lineup like Dusty loved to do.
I actually root for Chas and want him to do well, but I also see his limitations and factor that in over his career. No way he's a .275/ 20 HR, 70 RBI guy. Anything below is average at best.
Rookie manager trying to win games and sometimes pushing the wrong button. It’s not ideal but it will get better (already has) and he’s already better than Dusty, who wasn't necessarily trying to win games last year.
I wonder what the opinion would be of Jose Abreu if he’d posted Singleton’s slash line this season. I doubt any of us would be talking about Houston upgrading 1B this offseason.
Feeling, his makeup, his style of play. All of it is not based on fact but my gut feeling. Not something that should be taken as solid evidence to dump the guy in AAA forever though. If he plays well and hits better than I stated then I'm happy for him and whatever team he'd be on.
To find out where he goes from here. We won't have to think about the possibility of overpaying him until then. Hopefully I'm wrong and he takes over for Tucker with no problem.
And all it took was 250 at bats wrapped around an injury to put him back to square 1 with you. Like I said, recency bias. That’s all it took for quite a few on here so you’re not alone. (To be fair, some here were against him even last year because they were Dusty cucks and wanted him to be right so badly.)
I thought he played over his head last year and wanted the Astros to trade him in the off season. I just feel his .273 22/70 was closer to his ceiling and he'll have more seasons under that than above it. You seem to think he'll have more season above it. Cool, let's see the next few years how it goes. I also think it's just as bias to say he'd continue to be better every year and that 2023 was more of his overall production value.
I think Framber ends up a Yankee... but will buckle under the pressure. I see KTuck going to... Tampa to go home and open up their new stadium.
I think being from Florida, he might end up in Atlanta since Miami sucks and Tampa is too cheap to sign him.
He vacationed in NYC last off-season. Too small of a sample size re: past performance at Yankee Stadium.
