The majority of fans don't know jack. In my opinion since Harden mean significantly more to the Rockets than Curry does to the Warriors it is a no brainer that Harden is MVP right now. The fans love Curry though and like 75% of them still think Harden "plays no defense."

Curry's been #1 all year and the no matter what Harden does, they will not dethrone Curry because that's the narrative.
The narrative is that people don't like watching Houston. You have national media guys who even say it. Ever since we've gotten Dwight, it's "James flops around and gets to the line, and Dwight is a weak-minded *****." Hell, we've even got ROCKETS FANS saying that stuff on this board. Nobody outside of our city likes this team.
We're talking about a state that has two rival teams. Not surprising at all really. I'm surprised Parsons doesn't have like 3-5% of the votes in Texas.
Harden had 13 points in first quarter of the ASG, and didnt get back in the game with about 3 minutes left in the second quarter... who's idea was it to tell westbrook to jack those shots up.... probably after kerr saw his boyz got 1-6 and 1-7 respecitively in the first quarter... anybody but harden calling the timeout instead of giving harden the ball at the end there to get harden free-throws when he was wide open and you were in no danger of a 5 second violation was criminal, and steve kerr was smug.... if harden doesnt play the east win the game..... harden hit the backbreaking shots... it is what it is though
This is why I think leagues should have two separate awards: Most Valuable Player (as in most valuable to his team) and "Best Player" (as in best player in the league that year). Any discussion about MVPs in any league always, always, always devolves into a discussion of what the award even means. What happens, then? A player on a playoff team wins it, because nobody knows what the hell they're even voting on and the team gets folded into the player. What happens when you have specifically-defined awards, though, is that you get right to the heart of the matter. Is Harden the most valuable player on a team in the NBA? Unquestionably. Is he the best player? Well, now it's interesting, because, yes, he's probably that, too. "Best" could fairly easily be chosen by a computer, and I'd think the stats favor Harden over Curry in that regard as well. Curry might win Finals MVP with his excellent team, but that's takes care of awarding honors to a team, as playoffs tend to do. The NFL should do this as well. Have a Best Quarterback, and Best Overall Player award. This past year Rodgers clearly wins Best Quarterback, but then you've got to be real homer not give J. J. Watt the Best Overall Player award. Sadly, we live in a world where words just don't mean what they're supposed to, and people foolishly accept that.
I'm giving up on the MVP talk at this point in time. I'm concentrating on what noise we can make in the playoffs. NBA seems determined to make Curry the MVP.
WTF do you mean Harden isnt getting any love? He is the top or second in EVERY mvp ranking. Geez its people like you that give fans a bad name.
Wasnt he just on the cover of sports illustrated saying he was fav as MVP?? seems like thats a lot of love
Posted in the game day thread, but flopping while down 5 when he could be a help defender on a drive to the basket doesn't help either stigma. People are looking for ways to poke holes in his case for MVP. Hate that he gave them some ammo last night.
This is a stupid comment. So, if Harden played for the Charlotte Bobcats, he'd be the frontrunner for the MVP award? Are you implying that voters are biased against Houston?
