I don’t know who it was that said the media is underrating melo and the board is overrating melo.. but yea
God this guy is so overrated!! Was known to be a scorer but never in his lifetime get to the 30ppg mark. I just dont see how can anyone see him as a great.
In a very recent thread poll here on ClutchFans, over 90% believe that Melo would be a good addition to the Rockets! So, why does that remaining 10% think they know more than the 90%, DM, TF, MDA, JH and, CP3? Has that remaining 10% actually played in the NBA against Melo? Did they play in NYC or OKC with Melo? The Rockets are not like the Niks or Thunder...the players and schemes are different. So, what do they know more than the Rockets front office or JH and CP3 know? Ofcourse, they are entitled to their opinion.....just as the rest of us ClutchFans are.
After we all had to bear witness to watching Anderson dissolve into a shell of himself like the wicked witch in the west when Dorothy poured water on her, we can't help but get excited of Melo joining our team.
Clutchfans has really tried hard to talk themselves into the Rockets having a great offseason. It’s odd.
If this coming season is as "bad" as his year with OKC, by the end of the year only 13 players will have scored as many career points as Carmelo. Re-read that if you have to: By next summer, he'll be one of the top 14 scorers in NBA history. If he has a good year, he could get to #12 or #11. And he'll almost certainly retire in the top 10, maybe even the top 8 scorers EVER. I just don't see how anyone can see him as anything other than one of the all-time greatest scorers, because... well, he actually IS. Know who else never in their entire careers got to the 30ppg mark? These two slackers:
Great is like CP3 or Dirk or KD's autmoatic mid-range game. Or Curry or Thompson's outside game. Anthony was at least a step below. He was a volume scorer. But a truly high volume scorer who could kill you on account of it. Really a worse Kobe because he was less dynamic and less skilled.
I would refer to the players you’re talking about as “all-time great,” which indeed is beyond melo. But as far as just great Career from 10-16 ft Melo 40.6% Kobe 43.9% 2 pt > 16 ft Melo 41.6% Kobe 40.2% 3pt Melo 34.7% Kobe 32.9% He really never had great offensive players around him who could pass and score.
Good shots yeah but dun take those shots just to make it to the Top 10 scorers. It is about winning and not personal accolades.
What kind of standard is that, judging a player as a great scorer if they only average 30ppg in a season? He won scoring champion in 2013 fyi. At this point in time, majority of the media and non rockets fans are comparing him to hot garbage, so I'd definitely not consider him overrated.
The entire purpose of my post was to refute someone's point that he's supposed to be a great scorer but never really was. I wasn't discussing the pros and cons of Melo.
That's the only standard that he got. He cant do anything else to save his life. And if you are going to be good as one thing, be the best at it. But he's not.
you just described someone who scored a lot. Which is a large factor of determing how great a scorer they are/were, but not the only factors.
Actually, that's pretty much the only factor. Scorers are judged by how many points they've scored. You can argue that he's not a great shooter or not a great all-around player or not a winner or not a good teammate, but when it comes to purely generating points, he's generated more than almost everyone who's ever played the game. I get that you some of you don't like Melo, but saying he was never a great scorer is ludicrous.
