Who cares about that? Instead of just letting them go and using the money on players in FA, we tie it up on the players we traded for (not in the least bit better, and I'd argue worse than the players we traded) for the next season + because they aren't FA........That = the exact reason we're are constantly at the luxury tax threshold.
Morey has been aggressive in trying to get a superstar. I bet you he was willing to give up something significant in order to get Carmelo or Deron Williams if their teams were willing to trade them within the conference. Since no one of that calliber is available to us, why waste all your assets on 2nd teir stars? I don't mind him gathering all of these assets for when the opportunity comes that a team is willing to trade their superstar to Houston (Dwight Howard maybe?). With more superstars going East, the more likely we can trade for one of them since their teams will not want to trade them within the conference (in the case that their superstar gets disgruntled for whatever reason). Also, Morey isn't doing 1 for 1 trades. He traded Aaron brooks (1 asset) for Dragic and a pick (2 assets) and he traded Battier and Smith (2 assets) for 3 assets. I'm glad we did not give up anything significant for Danny Granger or Iggy because they are NOT superstars, and everyone here is complaining that Morey has yet to deliver us a superstar. I think it is wiser to trade for a superstar BEFORE trying to obtain a second teir star, because the second teir star isn't going to attract a superstar. A superstar will attract another superstar or second teir star. For example, obtaining Gerald Wallace would not make Deron Williams want to play for us, but obtaining Deron Williams first could have possibly attracted Wallace, Iggy, or an actual superstar.
LOL. Don't worry, Morey will eventually trade a banana, orange, and a couple of grapes for a starberry.
