Why is Daryl Morey making apple for apple trades?

    Yeah seriously...I haven't seen him make a game changing trade in his tenure as of yet. The trades that Morey has made surely doesn't improve the team..it might actually make them worst. Hill and Thabeet and Dragic are not upgrades from Tmac, Battier, or AB. Why not trade a lump for someone good as oppose to doing 1 for 1 trades between to similar average players as well as collecting a bunch of first round draft picks? Thabeet might not even get playing time in the stubbornness of Adelman and his old players trust.

    I think Dragic is a decent player...but we lost a decent player too in AB who probably has higher potential than dragic in the longrun. Thabeet...might be another shawn bradley..in exchange for the captain of the team Shane Battier. Yeah i"m not sayin Battier is a huge loss in the longrun..but Thabeet isnt a huge gain either judging from his 3 years so far. Adelman won't even play Terence williams..and ur banking on thabeet to play over his boys Brad miller and chuck hayes? I highly doubt it.

    The only practical reasoning for these trades is that the Rockets are cutting costs for rebuilding next season..but with all the BIG apples contracted up, I don't see where Morey can throw his first round picks to get anything decent next season.
    The only thing that will make this a good trade is thabeet fulfills his unseen potential...just like jordan hill, patterson, and terence williams with their unseen potentials.

    Plenty of threads pertaining to the same topic.

    Every big name that was traded Morey made a hard push for.

    It didn't work out

    So true

    Alston = Lowry
    VSpan = Scola
    Donte Green + 1st round pick = Artest
    Landry = Martin
    salary cap space = Jordan Hill + 1st round pick

    I swear we never upgrade this team through trades at all.

    these trades were made because AB and Battier are free agents this summer. Unlikely to bring back AB because already paying Lowry starter money, Battier will probably get offers from contending teams as well. Trade them while you can...

    The whole "Brooks will be good in the long-run" is not relevant.... It's not like the Rockets were going to re-sign him after this season anyway. I think that Dragic will be a good fit in Houston, and we will see Lowry gain more PT. The one thing I will miss is the set with both Lowry and Brooks on the floor together, but It's worth the sacrifice.

    Can we just lock up these threads please. They are so off base and they don't do any homework before posting in my opinion.

    I'm pretty sure it was Dream who made it attractive. Players capable of putting up a quadruple double don't grow on trees. They don't come around often. They are also rarely traded, unless they're past their prime or given up on too early.

    Quit complaining.

    thanks for breaking it down meh. fools around here have a short memory. of course if yao and t-mac had been healthy, surrounded by those players, we have a contender.

    i would also add:
    late 1st round pick = brooks
    2nd round pick = Landry
    2nd round pick = Bud

    yeah, morey is the problem :rolleyes:

    I'm sure if you asked Daryl Morey, he'd tell you the same thing that's been aired on these forums since the deadline: If a major trade that helps the team in the long run became available, he would make it -- they just haven't been available.

    Getting Kevin Martin would have been a HUGE game changer if Yao were healthy.

    Thabeet = apple
    Battier = apple

    thus, Battier = Thabeet.

    Thabeet is the real Battier.

    Why apples for apples?

    Because other teams value their caviar, lobster, and filet mignon too much to give them up in exchange for our apples.

    Because he was able to get some players and picks for expiring contracts while still giving himself enough space in the offseason to maybe pick up someone like Perkins in FA.

    The moves made sense.

    The reason of trading AB is obvious. He's hurting the chemistry. He's head is all about a contract. Thought organization betrayed him. Can't focus on the court. You heard what Brad Miller gave him a brithday present. You saw he walked away from a late game. You think Morey would give him a contract because of those childish act? No, Morey has no options but trade him.

    You won't gamble Flynn if you look at his injury history. Dragic is a low risk trade. A typical Rockets move.

    Because CD was GM a year after our last championship and DM was GM 12 years after it.

    I think Perkins found his home for the long run.
