On offense, he's trying too hard to redeem his bad start. Leading to foolish decisions. But we do need his length for defense.
Can't wait to trade him. We are wasting time not giving KJ minutes to develop before the playoffs. However, I understand we need Brew to improve his performance before anyone will take on his contract. Jones and Brew for any big man and only expiring contracts. Would love Jordan Hill on this team off the bench.
I'm not pro trading Brewer. He's having a bad start, but he's a great attitude guy. He plays hard. I appreciate him as a person, seriously. Great character guy.
This. Brewer is totally pressing on the offensive side of the ball, he needs to let the game come to him a bit and quit forcing out of controlled drives to the basket. The one positive I can say about him is he plays all out when he's on the court.
He WAS all those things yes. WAS last year. Not this year though. Don't wanna give a guy who's destroying team chemistry more playing time because of what he did last year.
This makes me sick! ---------------------------------------------------- Even during Brewer's recent shooting slump, his upside hasn't been lost on his coaches or teammates. "At the end of every night, when you go back and watch the film, there are three or four key plays that only Brew can make," interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. "It's getting to a spot to take a charge; it's shooting a passing lane to get a hand on the ball; it's a key transition bucket. And in the fourth quarter, he makes big 3s for you, too. The kid is a winner. There is no other way around it. It's the only thing that matters to him." ... Bickerstaff a fan The Rockets continue to look for improvement all around, and Bickerstaff believes Brewer will be part of it. "I love Brew. I had him in Minnesota when we drafted him, and he is a champion," Bickerstaff said. "People may see his game is kind of awkward. If you were teaching your kid how to play, you could never in a thousand years teach your kid how to play the way he plays. "He is special. Hispersonality never changes; his attitude never changes. He is a guy that wherever I would go or wouldbe, if it was time to go to battle, I would take him with me." And Brewer will be happy to go there, with a wide, toothy smile spread across his face. "There's nothing to be upset about - ever," Brewer said. "I have the best job in the world." -------------------------------------------------------------------- I mean, a champion? REALLY? The dude is a dime a dozen player - he gets steals and charges, but he shoots too much, and he is a ****TY shooter. Honestly, Morey would do this team a service by trading him and making JB play other guys like Thornton and McDaniels. Brewer is a security blanket for JB "Linus" Bickerstaff. DD
Brewer played good defense last night. If you watched closely he didn't gamble as much and played straight up. That's not the case most nights though. And no way you move TJones. There's nobody you can get back at the moment who will give you what he does at that age. Keep him and take your chances in free agency.
Let's inject some facts into this discussion: Brewer = 31 GP, 1 GS, 20.9 mpg Thornton = 27 GP, 6 GS, 20.1 mpg 4 out of the Top 5 lineups Thornton plays in feature a PG and Harden, or two PGs. My take on those facts: Maybe we are making way too much about an occasional DNP-CD in games when a 3-guard lineup isn't going to help much (like against SAS), as even if we trade Brewer, is Thornton really good enough for more than 20 mpg.
Further facts: Two of Thornton's DNP-CD's were the first two games of the year when: Game 1: Lawson = 37 mp Harden = 36 mp Beverley = 21 mp Game 2 Lawson = 36 mp Harden = 37 mp Beverley = 21 mp
I would like to see Thornton as the first SF/SG off the bench and Brewer as the 10th man - or energy player - because he is such a net negative on offense and he leaves his man open on defense so often... DD
