Why is Andersen still in the rotation?

    Have you seen our roster. Nobody is that great. Landry is pretty consistent, but that's about it. Brooks is on and off a lot. And Ariza blows. On a team like LA or Boston he probably wouldn't find many minutes in the rotation, but here.....yes sir.

    Thats like saying we need to post up aaron brooks more often when his game is more of a face-up-beyond-the-three-point line-type. why would you want to change how a player naturally plays? why don't we play to his strengths with-in the offense. when it works it works and when it don't it don't.

    LOL it's funny how Ariza, who "blows", managed to "find many minutes" "on a team like LA or Boston". Sorry no offense, just thought it was quite entertaining.

    @Mars
    I'll give you that, Ariza played great in the playoffs for the Lakers. And thus managed to find minutes. But that doesn't change the fact that he is a mediocre basketball player here. You could put most players in the nba with Kobe, Gasol, Odom, etc. and they will look good. Anyway, I'm glad you were entertained by my post, but don't hurt yourself big boy.

    I agree he's a better mid range shooter plus decent post fade away shot/hook. His defense had improved he stopped Kobe a few times by just being there to help Shane and standing tall in the lane. Bynum scored on him but at least he put a body on him he just needs to get stronger to keep from being backed under the basket.

    He's a good player he's been about what I expected from him in his 1st season and really on a team of short players he's the only real height the Rockets have.

    I don't disagree with the reasoning, but right now it's obvious that the 3 point line is a bit out of his range. I don't see why he couldn't take another step or dribble inside the arc, which is closer to the international 3pt range, and knock down long twos at a much higher percentage.

    I just don't believe most teams will honor his 27.5% threat to knock down 3's.

    Because the Rockets need a 4th big out there to balance the start of the 2nd and 4th quarters so Scola can get some rest? Andersen is the offensive C and Hayes is the defensive one. Andersen fits in with a Landry post game. He has made some good improvements since the start of the season.

    let me think,

    he may be good choice if he play with yao in term of spreading the floor.

    I remember them talking about what good 3 point shooter he was in overseas and I believe their 3 point line is a bit closer in. So I am thinking he is struggling with that now but should soon adjust.

    I have been impressed with his overall game for a backup big man. I can't believe someone is calling him a scrub. They must not have been watching the team play. He has a consistent mid-range jumper. An array of hooks. Nice post moves which he has successfully pulled off against some pretty impressive defenders. He also has a 3 point shot, which admittingly has been inconsistent.

    My only problem with David, is his defense.

    I love when he is in because often he scores. When we go on these long scoring droughts, I scream to get Landry or David in the game. Our offensive game becomes sooo predictable when we have 3 defensive specialists (Hayes, Battier, Ariza) in as starters! I really do value Chuck's skills as a big man, but honestly I would rather have another offensive player in the starting lineup, like David. Really, I think Scola should start at the 5 and Landry should start at the 4 but that is me.

    David was an awesome find for Morey.

    How does he provide floor spacing when he's usually wide open and bricking shots? If the defense doesn't respect Andersen's shot enough, they still sag off him, and will crowd the paint to double Landry or Scola.

    I agree if he shot a higher % from 3, he'd help with the floor spacing. He needs to stay in the 15-20 ft range since he can hit that shot more regularly or model his game after Scola.

    overreaction thread of the night. congrats.

    Anderson is still getting his feel for the NBA game. He spreads the floor and is a taller body to help attempt to guard players and you can't double off of him to leave him open.

    I wish he would stop shooting the three-ball, though. He's a perfectly servicable backup center

    LMAO @ every r****d here who thinks this is an overreaction thread. Listen, I've seen too much of this guy to know he's a complete scrub. Let me throw out some stats for you

    He shoots 41.5% from the field, less than 30% from 3s, less than 70% from the ft line, .7 assists, .2 steals, .1 blocks. Please ****ing argue with the numbers how this guy isn't a scrub? His jumpshot isn't even good, and he provides nothing in all other facets of the game.

    Raise your hand if you want to keep arguing with me. I dare you.

    No team ever really pays attention to a cetner with 3 pt range to start. Teams usually want that player to show he's going to hit the shot, regardless of whether its DA or Okur, so a lot of it has nothing to do with DA himself.

    He's had a very rough week from the line, he's like 1 of 11, but prior to that he was at almost 35% for the season, which is respectable. Sometimes it's tough to get in any kinf of rythm when you're minutes are limited.

    After this season, everyone of non-value to this team will be eliminated. So let's not worry and just enjoy the season.

    I for one, want to keep DA. I think he can be a solid player. He's getting better.

    Hayes, I'm sorry, too short and can't score. Needs to go.
    Ariza, not looking good right now...maybe a bench player next season.
    Battier, we're not a lockdown defensive team anymore...we need points and you sort them out scarcely...needs to go.

    You're using assist and steal numbers to prove a back-up center is a scrub? hahaha.
    Something tells me you're one of those people who just looks at box scores instead of watching the game. He has an array of good offensive moves, and he normally shoots well and provides floor spacing for Lowry and Landry to charge in and create their own havoc. Add that he's still getting used to the league (Jesus, Scola was from my memory not that useful until right before the streak and no one expects Andersen to be Scola) and there's no way he's as trash as you or Aussie makes him out to be, especially for the price. We needed height, and he'll do for now.

    Because assist, steals, and blocks are completely worthless huh? This guy is the biggest liability on the defensive end. Night in and night out, scrubs on other teams eye's light up when they see him guarding them, and they score at will. He's not even a shotblocker despite being 6'11. Please, all you obviously care about is his offense, which he isn't even that good at. Array of offensive moves? LMAO please who are you trying to kid here, this statement proves you don't watch Rockets games. All he does is shoot jumpers and fadeaways, with a very occasional hookshot, at a 41.5% clip. Geez that's very serviceable.. GTFO are you kidding me?

    I said again, just give this guy's minutes and spread it out amongst Hayes, Landry, and Scola.
