Its pretty amazing. The Rockets are in the middle of a SEVEN GAME WINNING STREAK and they STILL HAVE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT SOMETHING. Get some nads. The dude goes out there and makes plays. What's even more amazing is that you naysayers have to make up BS just to make it seem like you're making a point. First off, you're not watching the game. Second off, Rod has averaged a WHOPPING .69 turnovers a game. Cut him right now!

Guys quit complaining about stupid petty stuff. Go buy a pet, hug it, love it, and repeat this process for two weeks. Then your diction and connotation will be much more enjoyable to read.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

I understand we are in a 7-game winning streak. But I too have no idea what Rod is doing out there. I think Barrett or Gaines could give you exactly what Rod is giving you. I would much rather see the young guys get experience than see Rod out there. I am not nit-picking, I just wonder what exactly he is bringing that younger players can't.

Why would you join the "just because we are winning, everyone would sing the 'Jubilees' then shut up" club? We are happy, but just because we are, it doesn't mean people have no right to gripe about things. Strickland is old and not performning. We hope to improve our team, and let Gaines and Barrett develop. What's the wrong with that?

I started the thread, and in my complaint, I said nothing about turnovers. That has not been his problem. He's problem is he shoots .194 fg%. No no, it's not his 3 point fg%, but his OVERALL fg%. You like that? People have no right to complain just because we are winning?

If that's the case, MoT's contract is great, because we are winning. Refs' calling on Yao is great, because we are winning. What happened to Eddie Griffin was great, because we are winning. WWII was great, because we are winning. No one should ever complain, because we are winning.

Why is everyone so down on Strick? He's like 38 or something, he's been out of the league for a little bit, so his shot is off and his wind is lacking. I think the guy takes care of the ball better than any pg we've had this year. I don't see him turning the ball over a lot. I like the way he runs the court. For a quick pickup, I think he's working out fine. You can never have too many smart players, and Strick is a smart player. (on the court, not off the court)

Many fans here judge player on one game only, the most recent game. So far Strickland is doing fine, 2.5 assists, 0.7 turnover, greate ratio. His shot is still off, but it's not like he takes 10 shots a game, and when he goes to the FT line, he makes them.

His contribution and minutes are negligible so I don't mind him too much but whatever

i don't agree with a lot of what's being said in this thread.
i do agree he hasn't been able to shoot worth a lick, but...
he has been able to penetrate
and he has been passing effectively to everyone and importantly he seems to be able to get the ball to Yao with ease.

i also don't mind him shooting so badly because he doesn't shoot very much. he has been effective passing the ball.

If he can teach the other guards how to pass to Yao then he can brick as much as he likes.

i'd like to see Barrett play more, but no big deal. Strick nor C. Ward are costing much. Strick really does not have to shoot much to contribute by giving Sura some rest.

Strick can contribute by keeping our offense flowing.

He is not that big a problem......

I recall worse- remember Maloney trying to guard Marbury???? That little memory of Point guard impotence will make you appreciate Strickland.

    Go Rockets- I love winning.

The unassuming mind (see DeAleck) will see the shallow things in regards to the acquization of Strick. Allow me to educate a little....

Point #1 - Strick was brought in here to spare Sura some playing time. Sura logged six (6) 40 minutes or more game this season as at January 20 (stricks first) and zero (0) since then in 13 games. Sura at that point was average a 40 minute game every 4.33 games - go figure. Coach JVG realized that playing Sura heavy minutes (especially 40+ minutes) will "kill him" before playoffs come around. Sura is also injured as well so the more rest or less minutes he can get the better for us all.

Point #2 - Strick has played with Mac before and recently. He knows his role and he is a level one play maker once he can get in shape. Barret is good in his own right but he couldn't bring it consistently. Gaines is a joke - nuff said on that one.

Point #3 - Strickland is/was the best PG option unsigned as at the time we signed him. Go around and look it up folks. He is a veteran that does not need too much in order to get our offense decoded.

Point #4 - He is getting better each game. He can still penetrate the middle like the best of them and our team is heavily depended on penetration and dish. That said the team is still looking to improve (and insurance) the PG/SG department hence the attempt to acquire Anderson.

In all, Strick shot .095 in January and has upped his average to 0.333 FG%, 2.0 PPG and 2.7 APG (0.5 TOPG) in a little over 10 minutes per game. But the biggest contribution is that Sura knee has been getting needed rest (less minutes) since Strick arrived. The ultimate goal to get Strick to contribute between 13 and 17 minutes each game so that Sura will be fresher down the road. If we are able to land DA, we would even have more depth to spare Sura and Mac of their heavy minutes (relatively heavy minutes in Sura's case).

We are 11-2 since Rod Strickland joined this team. That must also count for something.

PS. The Rox tried to acquire a Milwaukee's outstanding PG but they pulled in the last minute.

I'm happy with what Rod Strickland is doing. You guys expect too much out of him. He met my expectation except that he can't no longer shoot worth anything. Solid ball handling, it's way better than playing Sura 44+ minutes a game. If Strickland still has anything left, he could give us a lift come playoff.

I feel pretty confortable sayint that if those guys could have given us what Strick is giving us, Strick would not have been signed.

I agree with this, but if D.A is traded here I would cut his playing time even more. The other day I was screaming at the game to get him out and put sura in at the end of the game.I'm glad they finally listened.
