I have a few primary issues that concern me. 1.) Economic Strength of our nation 2.) Security of Our Nation 3.) Efficiency of Government 4.) International Intervention Trump is an outsider in a world of insiders in Washington DC. Every politician is bought and paid for by special interests and lobbyists and influence and all the while the people have been forgotten. The democrats represent Unions, Trial Lawyers, Media and the Very Poor while Republicans represent Big Business and the Church. I think Washington is a cesspool of favors and bureacratese which results in terribly onerous laws and the continued expansion of government into our lives from both the left and the right. The left sweeps in to control our financial lives, whereas the right sweeps in to control our moral lives. Trump is a reflection of their failures. His election will shock the system and could help to slow down the path of a growing expansionary government that is constricting our ability to live in a free society. A society in which people can offend, people can service who they want, people can deny services to whom they want. The reason he waffles on abortion and such is because inside he doesn't want to get into peoples lives, and ultimately if elected will manage in that way. The Middle East - Trump is the only Republican who has ever said that he would take a fair handed approach and not take sides on the Israel vs. Palestine question and was vocally against the Iraq War. That displays a pragmatic view and as a leader I think he could actually get people to agree. So when people say he's anti-muslim yet he says the above i take pause. When he wanted to not let Syrian refugees into the US a while back until we could determine if they were Isis or not, I thought it was a correct move if not a politically correct move. American Trade Agreements - We really are taken advantage of by foreign countries and companies and have rules and taxes that make it less competitive for American business and jobs. I think he recognizes this and could help in this matter.
How do you think Mr. Trump would accomplish progress on any of your issues in reality? Laws are made by Congress, international relations require two or more parties to compromise, how would the security of our nation improve by insulting other cultures, how would our freedom from government be effected by invasive policing? Bullies get their way until some abused party stabs them in the back. Trump's only real value is as a parody of Rovian politics, destroying the GOP with their own words by taking the veil off their innuendo.
Does everyone have a very close amount of the same intelligence? No probably not I am 100% certain that if you took all the voters from the remaining candidates and took an average IQ from them Trump supporters would be the lowest number. So there is that mr. rocketman.
Thanks for making your argument on Trump. I think that too often I get insincere or unsupported arguments for Trump. You not only state your case, by the underlying perspective on the state of the nation that informs it. I disagree with just about everything you've said, starting with the way you describe the cesspool, and going on to the impact a President Trump would have, and your interpretation of Trump's positions and his ability to achieve whatever ends he may seek. To find common ground though, we'd have to go way back really to first principles of what government is meant for and to what extent our current government does those things. That's too far back, so I'm not going to argue about it. It seems that perhaps a lot of Trump supporters really have this approach though -- the system is critically corrupt and the Trump shock will somehow overturn the system. I think this has potential to be a pretty big political rift that I honestly didn't see coming at all (or didn't take seriously) until the Trump phenomenon.
I'm sorry I draw the line with Trump as an actual president for this country. The entire idea deserves to be mocked. It's not acceptable to even consider the notion.
That was true last summer. With him well on his way to being the Republican nominee, it's time to try to understand why. Scary as that may be.
It is true that Washington are these people governing on the interests of corporations, but the dude really ruined his chances of becoming President and possibly support from the majority of the people by spreading hate, fear, racism, bigotry, fascism, xenophobia, and frankly by just talking out of his ass. That's not a good trait to have, especially when you're the President of the United States. But besides all that, I was this close in voting for him.
Actually they've done something like this already and you are correct. No offense to OP but I wouldn't be surprised if the OP was poor and white with no college education. Several studies have shown that Trump voter are less informed and poorly educated. Trump himself has been seen saying he "Loves the poorly educated" at a speech. I voting for Trump because he's more of a socialist than Hillary but less of a socialist than Bernie.
I personally feel Trump could land anywhere on the spectrum, from complete disaster to overwhelmingly successful. Every word that comes from his mouth speaks disaster, but he completely goes against typical politics as usual. Trump doesnt care if he gets re-elected. He doesn't care what congress thinks. He certainly doesn't care what the RNC or DNC wants.
