This team is fun to watch (especially the young guys) and you never have to question the effort or intensity of the players. I'm convinced this team will never win a Championship even with minor roster changes but I still love watching them. Effort counts for a lot IMO.
I would disagree about having no superstars. Yao is a superstar. In terms of marketing he's as big as Lebron and Kobe. In terms of skill he is at worst the second best center. Agree with the overall sentiment that this is a fun team to watch. I just started a thread about Landry and to me Landry exemplifies the player out there who really enjoys what he is doing.
You forgot the others: Tofu - Yao TSlack - McGrady Scrubola - Scola Airballston - Alston I was pretty proud of those!
I love this team because Luther and Rafer are not long on the team anymore. Seriously, this team is fun to watch. You know there is a chance to for this team to beat very good team at a given night. Two years ago, this team can beat the east teams at 80% rate, but for the good west teams, the rate is much low, that is why that team can not pass the first round.
Last years team was loved too with the 22 game winning streak and all. Then it became unloved after it failed miserably in the playoffs.
Dont kid yourself, northeastfan. We all know you're one of the most avid Rocket haters on this forum. You never have anything nice to say about anybody.
In a way this is a rag tag unit of overachievers; Scola probably exemplifies this better than any. It is not that they aren't talented, they are just not as skilled or athletic as many players in the league. However, let's not forget that just a short time ago this bunch was going through the motions lazily losing to poor teams. No doubt Artest is a "coconut" but his toughness and never die attitude is rubbing off, the LA game being the extreme counterpoint. I certainly enjoy watching them play again. Previously they were boring while winning. However, I agree, if they don't go anywhere (second round at least), most of us are going to feel conned again by a team designed to build expectations not win championships.
Simply untrue. Why make up false statements? You have any evidence of this? As far as I'm aware, he was released because his attitude was bad
Sigh. Thanks for the attack. 1. It has been mentioned during several of the Rockets games on NBA League Pass. Maybe you only get the Rockets' home telecast but I have to occasionally suffer listening to the away broadcasters. 2. Here are his shooting percentage stats: 05-06 Lakers 0.158 07-08 Nuggets 0.263 07-08 Blazers 0.304 You can't tell me that those are great shooting numbers lending support to what people had been saying about Wafer ... he can't shoot. Clearly, he has proven his detractors wrong this year.
Well.. Dr. McGrady is chilling his blue member on the Red Planet. It's fun watching Nite Yao and Ronschach trying to save the world.
A statement that nearly everyone seems to agree with...except for me. What does it matter? I'd much rather have a team that was stacked and kept missing the finals (underachieved) than a team that scrapped its way into the 2nd round (overachieved).
this team is well put together, all we need is one more person that can break down the defense off the dribble and we are in a great position and the fronting of Yao will be more difficult.
This team definitely is fun to watch. However, let's not get carried away - this is not a team with a bunch of scrubs that are simply overchieving. Collectively, this is a team with a lot of talent and skill. Although Scola has no "hops", his ability to read and track rebounds is something that you cannot teach. Nor are his spin moves in the post. They are natural talents. Stromile Swift had plent of "hops" but had no clue otherwise. With the talent on this squad, they should be a lock for the 2nd round. Anything else is a failure.
