A perfect curse of the George Bush era, everything has to pass religiously to be accepted which we have not used as a measuring stick in recent history and we did great as a nation.

The microhpone is now with lots of bigots and rednecks and they are given the air to say what they want, but soon this will all end and we will go back to the nation pre Bush period.

Can somebody tell me what this means? McCain keeps preaching that he will not pull out until "we WIN in Iraq". What exactly does this entail? By what definition or how will we know that we have won in Iraq? Somebody please explain.

But because one person of a race uses it in a song doesn't mean that everyone of the race uses it all the time.

That's the problem. Using it in a mocking way is especially a problem.

exactly, that's prejudice, espcecially when the person you are mocking doesn't do what you are attributing to them. that's the very definition.

Is this supposed to convince me to vote against him? Because it's having the opposite effect

Would you support a White President who went to a church which has tenets that said they have a:

I don't see how this comparison (black church vs. white church) is in any way germane, because white people haven't been systematically oppressed like black people have in recent memory. You have to remember that guys like Jeremiah Wright, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton grew up in a time when black people were segregated and discriminated against, so I don't see the harm in them trying to build up the "black community" after what they've been through.

I don't see the parallel here.

While some people of African descent speak Ebonics in the real world, do people from Yao Ming's native land really utter "ching chong chang" in America?

You just can't keep your subconscious from rearing its head, can you?

You are free to interpret T_J's post, but it doesn't change the facts that 1) Ebonics is a form of dialect spoken widely in the U.S. -- about as much as, say, Southern American English (shall I expect similar rage when you read that Southern Sheriff pulling Obama off campaign bus article from the Onion?) by Southerners, and 2) no people from Yao Ming's native land utter "ching chong chang."

That's exactly Wright. What B-Bob tried to do was to escalate matters and for some reason to smear Asians in the process. Totally uncalled for, imo. Just unnecessary. If Jeremiah Wright be ridin dirty, that's no excuse for B-Bob to come in, put words in people's mouths, and demean Asians in the process.

first off all lets call it what it is, bad use of english. second of all you are correct, that what shaq said was not actual chinese, what tj did was make fun of actual language.

lastly, if you want to play semantics then no the onion article is not a good example. it is a totally made up situation, satire. what tj did was took an actual quote from an actual person who used the language correctly and turned it around to make him sound less intelligent, by twisting it to sound like a negative stereotype of people of of his race.

You're full of it. I clearly recall you referring to Rev. Wright as "Revvum Wright," during the primary season. In fact, it's in rhadamathus' signature. You claim ignorance, you're only using language. You know full well what you're doing.

I know, how dare those bigots and rednecks talk about whatever they want to, it's gonna be awesome when Obamas administration forces censorship on radio stations that speak out against him.

hey, here is a thought, if you don't like listening to those bigots and rednecks..........turn the dial.

I think at the VERY least you are pushing it.

I have a strange feeling after the election these threads will not be so ridiculous.

Close to my feelings..............Has anyone on here read the link to this on snopes? It says that the author is not even voting McCain from what I can see. Lots of jumping to conclusion here. The author says on snopes that his family is being harrassed over what was intended to be a private email. Nice.

Why is it so threatening to read a black christian's different views anyway? It's plain to see that the letter was written to another person as a personal view. It's from his view and his opinion. And what will it do to change any view that is already different from it? Nothing. I doubt it was intended as much more than that. It's just a list of reasons.

It's really a shame that this cannot be shared here without people jumping up and down screaming "bigot" on one hand, or "Revvum Wright" on the other. Has it really come to this? We all know that opinions or emails don't change the stubborn stances of anyone. Why is this so threatening? It's no different than Wright saying something or Palin stirring the pot. It's just a different view. America is full of those.

The blood in our veins has these differences. Some like vanilla ice, some like tupac, some hate rap at all. It's personal, and at least this dude had the stones to put together some actual thought on his reasons to answer a question instead of just being a completely ignorant voter with no reasons to speak of. It's a least a better stance than some that are sayin' they won't vote for someone because of race or age. These types of letters are way more helpful than a youtube celebrity singin' about a candidate's looks. This is def less about entertaining me and more about informing me.

If you don't like his ideas that's fine. But quit with the generalizations of all religion or skin color or education levels. That's trippin' and y'all know it. This is probably just alarming to those that have irresponsibly lumped all brothers into the yes column for Obama. Someone has a different view that doesn't line up with the common stereotypes you are comfortable with and all hell breaks loose.

So are we saying we expected some of this from the common white christian, just not the black ones? That's rich.
