Why Houston isn't appealing even tho they should be

Houston is the retirement home where the elderlies want to get one last decent paycheck before they settle down to a life of decrepitude. Not a place where young stars want to strut their stuff.

So we are the soft bodies on the beach looking at all the hard bodies walk by us? I admit alot my strutting on the beach was in my days living in Georgia, and going to the beach in Florida during my time stationed at Ft Stewart. :grin:

Analogies aside, I feel that the biggest reason for the Rockets not being looked as a vastly more appealing destination is a popularity issue, not only with the media, but especially with other elite players in the league (players that are worth chasing and have been in the news for the past month). Think about it. Lebron and Bosh wanted to team up with Wade because they were homies; same draft class and teammates on Team USA. The same goes for Chris Paul. The teams he's listed are teams with stars that are in a similar age group and/or have played on Team USA. Orlando has Dwight Howard (Team USA), New York has Amare Stoudemire (similar age group), LA has Kobe Bryant (Team USA). Also, he and Carmelo have often talked about creating their own version of the Big 3 in New York. What does he and Melo have in common? Similar age group, both superstars, and teammates on Team USA.

The NBA is a fraternity. Elite players often befriend other elite players based on numerous reasons, one being that they often play against each other or with each other either in the playoffs or Team USA. Another reason is they are in the same age group so they have similar interests and most likely hang out together. As we all know, friends become better friends the more they hang out, talk, and do stuff together. Now, take a look at our squad. Who's our best player that can be looked at as closest to elite or star status? Yao Ming. So, what makes Yao so different from Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudemire, and Carmelo Anthony? We all know that Yao's a very humorous guy and very easy to get along with, but we also know that he doesn't go out much rather opting to play World of Warcraft or CS instead based on the accounts of current and ex teammates. Another thing is he's Chinese. The international demographic of the NBA is almost a separate fraternity of their own (remember when Juan Carlos Navarro was begging to play with Pau Gasol and so so sad after he left to LA). So, what about the other guys on the team? Aaron Brooks...sure he's a likeable fellow, but he's in a younger age group and not in that elite fraternity. Do you think CP3 calls up Aaron on a weekend and is like, "Yo bro let's party"? He might, but I wouldn't bet on it. Kevin Martin...again, not in that elite fraternity. No need to comment on Shane Battier. The fact is a lot of the guys on our team are simple, down to earth guys who haven't faced the hype and the exposure that a lot of the marquee players like Chris Paul have. They're either international, really young, or undrafted/low hype players. Therefore, I don't think that it is much to presume that no one on our team would stick out to a player like Paul as somebody that he'd like to play if he were to judge based on friendship.

Is this type of judgement irrational? Of course. The Rockets have a very good team talent wise, one of the best GMs, owners, and coaches in the league. Much like the girl in high school that got overlooked by her peers because she wasn't as popular as the other girls, but she had all the qualities of a great girlfriend, the Rockets are the pragmatic, but often overlooked destination.

Thats not true. We refused for years to trade Yao and Tmac. No matter how long their injury history. We still arent trading Yao and nobody has got traded except Landry who was leaving us anyways because we cant afford Landry and Scola as powerforwards. There is absolutely nothing to any of that except Tmac who forced our hand in order to be in a good position.

Everyone does realize? All this talk has netted almost zero action and these assets have never been moved. These assets are our team right now. They most likely will be with the glacial movement of our organization and thats not being unloyal. Thats being too loyal to win nothing.

Yes. Because we know Pat Riley didn't trade away anyone in order to sign Lebron, Wade, and Bosh. He knows how to treat his players right. He'll never trade for a better model if he had the chance to.

THAT is why they want to go to Miami and not Houston.

We were clutch city before Tmac? Does the name Steve Franchise ring a bell? Cuz Clutch City was only Dream's era, not anything after since.

Is this sarcasm? Because McGrady went to NY and immediately proved that he was able to ... oh wait, he pulled the same old stunts as he did here, so I don't think Adelman's reputation is on the line in anyway.
